Looking for a curry restaurant in 神保町? Why not visit ガヴィアル, established in 1982 and known for its appealing European-style curry? Located in the curry district a 1-minute walk from 神保町 Station in Chiyoda, Tokyo, ガヴィアル specializes in European-style curry with a flavor that stands out even in this curry district. Its defining depth of flavor comes from an exquisite blend of 28 spices, based on a sauce continuously replenished since its founding. We tried the beef curry and scallops curry. The scallops are massive, and the beef was nice and tender. Highly recommended to get the cheese add on. If you need a meal that will stick to your ribs, try this place out! But be warned, it could put you in a food coma. We spent 3800 yen for these two meals. A little pricey, but not by too much.

I’m just glad it was not busy and no wait. I like that potatoes are included. Cheese is worth adding. Only get large size if you’re very hungry (shown, 350g rice).
View on GoogleOne of the 百名店 of Curry from Tabelog. The place can be occupied with customers easily, so I recommend you to go there early, like 10 minutes before it is opened. I ordered ミックスカレー (Mixed curry), where shrimp, clam, and chicken are added. There are three levels of spiciness you can choose: 甘口 (not spicy), 中口 (medium spicy), and 辛口 (Spiciest), and also お子様 (for kids). The dish is served with a two whole small potatoes with butter for an appetizer. Then the curry is served with almond on top of it, and cheese on top of rice. There are also 2 kinds of pickle for free. Personally, I think the curry base is a little bit too sweet for me, even though I already ordered for 辛口. However, the meat in the curry is very good.

View on GoogleThis is a European-style curry restaurant that I visited during lunchtime. The place was almost full when we arrived, and by the time we left, there was already a line outside, so it is clearly a popular spot. Service was efficient, making it convenient for a quick lunch. However, as for the curry itself, I honestly did not find anything particularly distinctive or memorable. It was not bad, but it also did not stand out in any way. While I understand that popularity can depend on personal preference, I personally did not feel it was worth lining up for, as there was nothing that made this curry especially unique.
