This place was the shogun's private space in Edo Castle, where the shogun's wives , concubines, and maids lived, and it played an important role in giving birth to and raising the shogun's heir. It was basically a secret world where men were not allowed !
View on GoogleThere are not that many parks in Tokyo where you have such a large lawn area in which you can sit out on the grass and enjoy a picnic. This is highly recommended as you do not have to pay for entry and you have plenty of space and good views of part of Tokyo and it is a good place if you want to meet people centrally and are not in a rush.
View on GoogleAmazing gardens, very simple but the work put in to maintain. We watched 2 gardens “clean” a pine tree with delicacy and attentiveness. Went on a cloudless day, so take sun screen and an umbrella for shade as there is little shade when walking. But a few rest houses. We couldn’t see any cafes on site so advise to see near by Tokyo Station or Ōtemachi for amazing lunch. We did visit MOMAT but it’s closed on Wednesdays.
