【25.09.16】 Visited the lunch buffet held at the restaurant on the 4th floor of Seiryo Kaikan. This used to be a restaurant called Seiryo Kaikan Seabornia, but it's now a different establishment. They currently offer 2 courses: quick buffet for 1500円 and full buffet for 2600円. The quick buffet only includes curry, pasta, bread, the salad bar, and the drink bar. The full buffet additionally includes several meat and fish dishes, fruit, cake, and unlimited red and white wine. Dummy wine barrels separate the quick buffet section from the full buffet additions. There is one pasta, curry with ground meat, and 2 kinds of bread with margarine. The drink bar has 3 options. The salad bar has a decent selection and several dressings. The full buffet dishes were meatballs in white sauce, sautéed white fish, oil sardines, 2 kinds of terrine, and 2 kinds of salami. The fruit was pineapple, melon, 2 kinds of grapes, and oranges. The cakes were several commercially made mini cakes and mini cream puffs. Aside from the limited variety, I thought it was unbalanced that only the 2 fish dishes were homemade while all the meat dishes were processed products. Even if fruit and wine make up the 1100円 difference between the quick and full buffets, 1500円 for a quick buffet with ground-meat curry feels expensive even considering the location. Assuming the dishes rotate, perhaps this visit was just unlucky, but I'd like them to work toward the standard of the old Seabornia, which before COVID had unlimited wine and a wide variety of homemade dishes for two thousand yen. I thought even simply adding fried dishes would improve satisfaction considerably. They accept cash, credit cards, and electronic money. No barcode payments. I paid by tapping my credit card.

The buffet food is at the level of breakfast at a cheap business hotel. You can choose quick for 1500円 or full for 2600円. I chose quick, but the explanation was poor, and I took food from the full section that I wasn't allowed to take, so it cost 2600円. The division of the full buffet dishes is extremely unclear. This information is as of 2024. I tried the “lunch buffet (full buffet)”. 2420円. Time limit: 120 minutes. This was my first visit to Seiryo Kaikan since Seabornia closed. I went hoping it would be Seabornia's successor, but personally I was disappointed. That day's hot dishes were grilled fish, boiled pork(?), mapo tofu scented with yuzu kosho (a collaboration dish with the University of Tokyo Spice Club), and pasta. The cold dishes were prosciutto, Peking duck-style fresh spring rolls (a collaboration dish with the University of Tokyo Spice Club), marinated seafood, nanbanzuke, and salad. There was also white rice, bread, fruit, dessert, wine (red/white), and soft drinks. “Huh… is this all…?” That was my reaction. It was delicious, but with that number of dishes, 120 minutes is too much time. A limit of around 70～90 minutes would be fine, and around 1980円 would feel reasonable, so unfortunately I won't return. The 2 female floor staff were very efficient and left a good impression.
