An easily accessible Chinese izakaya, 8 minutes on foot from JR Ichigaya Station, 6 minutes from Exit 3 of Ichigaya Station on the Toei Shinjuku Line, and also close to Kudanshita and Hanzomon Stations. In business for over 25 years, we offer Chinese cuisine with a focus on flavor that is approachable for Japanese diners. Our specialty is “担々麺”. Our distinctive blended sesame paste is particularly aromatic, and you can enjoy varieties including white sesame, black sesame, and curry. We also offer more than 70 side dishes. We generally use cooking methods that drain off oil, striving to provide dishes that are gentle on the body. The open interior, with no obstructing pillars, is perfect for banquets and private bookings! The Ichigaya area…

When customers who aren't drinking alcohol order fried rice and ramen along with other dishes, it's because they want to eat them together. Having the fried rice and ramen arrive a while after they've finished every other dish rather defeats the point. If there's some kind of restaurant policy, couldn't you ask customers when they'd like their dishes served? Disappointing.

Tantanmen🍜 at a Chinese restaurant about 7 minutes from Ichigaya Station They have black sesame and white sesame tantanmen, and I debated until the last moment but chose white sesame. Apparently the black sesame is spicier. The white sesame tantanmen has chili oil on top, but it doesn't taste very spicy; it's creamy and mellow. If you like spicy food, I'd recommend the black sesame. Perhaps because it's a little walk from the station, on a weekday evening, after the 1 group already there left, it was just me. The staff seemed more reserved than the type to offer lots of recommendations, so maybe it's best for quietly drinking alone while watching TV, or coming with a group? Instagram:@aya.gourmet_trip

I had black sesame tantanmen with Shaoxing wine diluted with water🍜 The soup's rich black sesame depth and aroma paired beautifully with the clean sweetness of the Shaoxing wine, keeping it from feeling too heavy and making me want to drink every last drop✨ My companion ordered white sesame tantanmen. It was light yet full of savory flavor, and before they knew it, they'd finished all the soup🍜 The restaurant has a calm atmosphere, and the chance to slowly savor carefully prepared Chinese food is another attraction. A place to consider when you're after tantanmen in Ichigaya!

A Chinese restaurant with delicious tantanmen. It's between Ichigaya and Kudanshita, near Yasukuni Shrine. Located in the basement, it's quiet and has a homey atmosphere. This time, we ordered 2 tantanmen dishes, which are also the restaurant's signature offerings. The first was “白胡麻担々麺”. The fragrant, creamy soup made with ground white sesame has the heat of chili oil and the savory flavor of minced meat. The thick soup clung well to the relatively thin but springy noodles and was delicious. The toppings were minced meat, bok choy, and menma, which softened the creaminess and heat. The second was “黒胡麻担々麺”. The soup combines the aroma of ground black sesame with the kick of sansho and taka no tsume chilies, savory minced meat, and a subtle sweetness. This punchy soup clung to the relatively thin, springy noodles and brought out their deliciousness. The toppings were likewise minced meat, bok choy, and menma, balancing the rich soup and making it easier to enjoy.

🍜What I ordered 【黒胡麻担々麺】 As the photo suggests, this bowl's rich black sesame aroma whets the appetite! The soup is creamy and mellow, yet has deep richness and aroma. The heat is restrained, with a well-balanced harmony of mala numbness and sesame flavor. The soup clings beautifully to the chewy, medium-thin noodles, and the crunchy takana adds a textural accent. Topped with plenty of minced meat, greens, and tender-tip menma, it kept me interested to the very last bite.
