Dont get put off by the staircase. Great curry. Fast service. Calm place.
View on GoogleGood curry, good service. The entrance is a bit hard to find. It is located on the 3rd floor of a narrow building and if you ever go there, you’ve got to try to take the elevator. One of the smallest elevator I have been in, and the doors are operated manually. It’s usually less crowded compared to some other curry shops nearby.
View on GoogleChicken curry and chicken wing was good but the spinach rice was a bit too dry for my liking. The pappadam, potato wedges and cabbage didn't really add much to the dish. The mango juice was processed, not fresh, but still was pretty good.
View on Google「ヒナタ屋」 is on the 4th floor of a historic old building in the Jimbocho area, about an 8-minute walk from Ochanomizu Station. This accomplished spice curry restaurant has also been selected for Tabelog's 100 Famous Curry Restaurants. Climb the spiral staircase leading to the restaurant (or take the retro manual elevator!), and you'll find a bright, comfortable hideaway with light streaming through large windows. Its biggest distinguishing feature is that all curry sauces are completely gluten-free, with no additives or coloring. This time I treated myself to the 「2-curry plate (chicken & tomato cream)」. The tomato curry had a gentle, deep sweetness like rich omurice, while the chicken curry perfectly combined fall-apart chicken wings with the sharp heat of authentic spices. I couldn't put my spoon down. The rice uses organic turmeric, making for healthy deliciousness that feels like it cleanses you from within. Another dish, the 「summer vegetable keema curry」, generously filled with chunky bell peppers and eggplant, was also outstanding and highlighted the ingredients' natural flavors. The authentic mango lassi afterward was also very high quality, fragrant with rosewater. Service did seem a little leisurely in places, but being able to enjoy organic spice curry this wholesome and good without queuing is extremely worthwhile. It's definitely my top recommendation for anyone looking for healthy, truly delicious curry from an outstanding restaurant around Jimbocho!
View on Google【Summiting Curry Mountain】 On the 4th floor of the long, narrow mixed-use 「振天堂ビル」 is the 100 Famous Restaurants selection 『ヒナタ屋』. Opened in 2007. This little corner of Surugadaishita is a Jimbocho curry triangle packed with celebrated restaurants such as 『エチオピア』『鴻』『ヒナタ屋』『ばんび』『マジカレー』『ビストロべっぴん舎』! After climbing the steep, demanding stairs, the seemingly dark restaurant turned out to have a beautiful interior filled with light from outside! What a surprise! There's an elevator too, but you open the door manually. Pretty amazing lol. This vintage elevator is over 60 years old, and apparently only 2 places in Japan still have manual ones. ▪︎2-curry plate 1,520円 Hot chai 320円 Vivid, beautiful turmeric rice that seemed to shine against the clear view outside! Made with homemade cashew paste, the tomato cream was rich with refreshing tomato acidity. It was also sweet and easy to enjoy. The meaty sautéed bacon and mushrooms were nice too. A chicken curry with refreshing black pepper heat and various spices, and a flavorful broth from the skinless chicken pieces! An original menu item from when they opened, with a curry sauce made without wheat flour, additives, or coloring. It also comes with carrot achar and masala-fried beans.. The chicken wing grilled just beforehand had lovely browning and melt-in-your-mouth skin. Delicious! The chai was mellow, milky, and easy to drink. This was a highly accomplished curry: you could enjoy the tomato's sweetness and acidity and the chicken's heat and spice separately, or enjoy their mingled umami together, making it all the more satisfying. Thank you for the meal(≧д≦)ゝ!
