【Lunch at a bar on the 1st floor of 東京パークタワー, with a nice, compact, cozy atmosphere】 This is lunch at a bar on the 1st floor of 東京パークタワー, about a 3-minute walk from Jimbocho Station toward Takebashi. I think the lunch menu is reasonably priced for this area. For an extra 100円, there is a half & half option to enjoy both curry and ハヤシ, and toppings can be added to either. The lunch coffee, an extra 200円, uses different beans each day, which could be something to look forward to as well. Takeout seems to be available. It is also a nice service that ordering ahead by phone lets you pick it up without waiting.
View on GoogleA café-bar on 1F of the restaurant-filled 東京パークタワー building by Jimbocho Station's A9 Exit. There are about 20 seats inside, almost all at tables, including one large table for 8. It seems to focus on café and evening service. The theatrical background music varies in pace and sometimes falls silent, making for a quiet space. Scotch appears to be the focus, with a good selection, but they also stock rum, gin, and more. If there were smoked dishes on the menu, I would be tempted to have a glass of Lagavulin. Lunch consists of coffeehouse classics such as curry, ハヤシ, and しょうが焼き. The ハヤシ was sold out this time, so I had the curry and coffee set. The curry had contrasting fruity and sharply spicy flavors, as though a large quantity of onions had been carefully sautéed and simmered. It also contained tender, falling-apart beef (I think), making it a reliably delicious coffeehouse curry. Today's coffee was listed as Brazil, and what arrived was also Brazil, so there does not seem to be a blend. The first impression was a strong, sweet, roasted aroma like toasted brown sugar. Perhaps the variety was something like Mundo Novo; a darker medium roast brought out the sweetness. There was balanced acidity too, and a clean finish that completely changed the initial impression into a refreshing flavor. Even though it changes daily, you can sense the care put into it. It feels like a Showa-era coffeehouse relocated to a new building, with its comfort and flavors preserved. That was my impression.
View on GoogleIn a relaxed space themed around literary greats, enjoy the coffee of the day, carefully selected by the owner. And for lunch today, housemade vegetable curry. Chunky vegetables fried without batter are a perfect match for the spicy curry. For 800円, this is high quality. Listening to classical music, surrounded by whisky and books inside, a soothing space in Jimbocho.
View on GoogleA whisky bar calling itself a café, where you can have lunch during the day. The Scotch selection is quite impressive. It was probably named after the Karakoram range beside the Himalayas; the owner likes mountains and taught me various things about whisky while drinking together at night. Lunch choices are not numerous—curry, ハンバーグ, and 生姜焼き—but the range is surprisingly broad. It is probably on the cheaper side for this neighborhood. I recommend the 生姜焼き. Day and night feel so different you might wonder whether different people run them, but it is rather unusual that the same owner handles both. The coffee was quite good too.
View on GoogleDespite working in Jimbocho for over 6 years, I had no idea there was a lunch menu, but I had ハヤシライス topped with 唐揚げ for lunch. Both the meat and coating of the 唐揚げ were tender, and the flavor was exactly to my taste. I was slightly stunned to find 唐揚げ like this at a café-bar… If I get the chance, I would like to try the coffee and alcoholic drinks too.
