What a beautiful place where time stops! You will first get welcomed by the gorgeous ladies in kimono who’s probably worker there for a very long time! Their charm and hospitality is what makes Japan so special ❤️my friend and I got the course menu and each carefully plated cuisine comes at the perfect pace! From the sashimi, to tempura to the main unagidon and osumashi soup, just perfection! A lovely perfectly ripe strawberry 🍓 finished the night! What a gem!!

Delicious eel rice dishes with polite serving by a old lady waitress. Feel like home.

The restaurant seems to cater mainly to neighborhood regulars. The elderly proprietress chats with and serves regulars and first-time customers alike, while the servers are more reserved and attentive to her. At first I thought they were unfriendly, but it's interesting how the place works through that division of roles. This time I had 3 pieces of eel and kimosui. The grilling was exquisite, but rather than melting in the mouth, the eel had a slightly firmer, plump bite that might also appeal to those who prefer Kansai style. The sauce was restrained and mild, without overpowering the rice. Overall, it felt milder and more refined, like a dish in a kaiseki meal, rather than traditional everyday Edomae kabayaki.

It was a truly wonderful eel restaurant. I'm simply grateful for the good fortune of having the chance to visit by happenstance. At the proprietress's recommendation, we started with vinegared wakasagi and unagi no kimo shigure. The wakasagi was refreshing, with just the right acidity and a refined flavor, preparing the palate for the eel. The kimo shigure was fresh with a pleasant texture, and the soy sauce and ginger seasoning was exquisite (it goes well with sake). For unaju, I had Matsu. The eel was grilled fluffy and fragrant, with just the right fattiness, and was absolutely delicious. The rice had a memorably chewy texture. I also had red wine and ginjo sake. Both were refreshing and paired well with the eel, bringing out its flavor. Above all, I think the proprietress's innocent, energetic service is another defining feature of this restaurant. I'd certainly love to visit again.
