After spending my morning at Akihabara looking at various places and dabbling in claw machines, I went for a walk and was actively trying to avoid the main streets as the crowds were getting a bit intense. I came across this restaurant by chance and had never heard of it. Since I hadn't had curry yet as part of this trip of mine, I decided to give ALBA curry a try. I was greeted by a friendly female employee who saw me browsing through the extensive menu outside. I made my order through the machine next to the front entrance and was seated promptly after that. My order of a double katsu curry, extra croquette and a drink & soup option was exquisite. The portions were perfect and value for money. I've also never had Canadian ginger ale so that was a novel experience for me too - see photos attached. I was a very satisfied customer and would recommend this place to others who might stumble across this hidden gem like me.
View on GoogleMy boyfriend was craving for Curry and we got interested in this place. The curry looks yummy plus it is near where we stay. We were suprised by the quantity. I was full afterward. The atmosphere of the place looks good. They have 4 seating and counter seating. They staff were also nice. I didn't know about the machine so he teach us. The service were not too slow or fast, just good enough. The food is great but personally, it lacks the wow factor. It is only a personal preference but overall, it was a nice experience.
View on GoogleI got the ホームランカレー with 並盛 size rice. It comes with a thin pork katsu, shrimp katsu, fried egg, and 2 pieces of sausage. Based from the thick brown sauce, the toppings, the metal plate, and the spork, this is Kanazawa style curry. The sauce have better flavor than Go Go which is also Kanazawa style. I like how the katsu stayed crispy right up to the end. The thick sauce had good caramelized flavor. There's chili powder available on the table for those who wants to add more heat.
View on GoogleThe tonkatsu is technically well done: thin panko coating, properly fried so the crust stays crisp while the pork remains fairly juicy. The cut itself is on the thinner side, so the texture leans more toward crunchy crust than thick meat. The Japanese curry is the highlight very thick, rich, and slightly caramelized, with a sweet-savory profile that coats the rice and cutlet well. Overall, solid katsu curry, but it feels more like a curry specialist with a katsu topping rather than a dedicated tonkatsu restaurant.
View on GoogleThis curry was amazing! We were left speechless. We came here twice in the space of a week. Cheese is a must! If you like cheese, have cheese! It’s so good! Really good chicken, really good shrimp. The whole thing was great! Staff super friendly! - I started salivating just by writing this review. Stop buying 7/11 Onigiris and strawberry-cream sandos and spend all your money here instead!
