Surprisingly spacious and tasty standing udon and soba mom & pop quick eats shop. The food was tasty, cheap, and served super quickly. The portion size was on the small side so next time I'll order a meal set.
View on GoogleA standing soba shop located about a 5-minute walk along Mejiro-dori from Edobashi intersection (towards Iidabashi). More car users are seen than station users. A soba shop along an old street. Because of that, the inside is narrow and cannot be said to be clean (especially the table cloth was terrible). I ordered because the shop's recommendation is meat soba. This is an old-fashioned verbal ordering, goods exchange (cash payment in advance) system. Soba is ready-made boiled noodles, loose and doesn't smell much. Tsuyu is a seafood broth peculiar to Tokyo but very weak, and it was a black and sweet soup with stronger kaeshi. The meat was pork belly, which was good, but the regular one was very thin. However, in the midst of this high price, meat soba 550 yen is cheap.
View on GoogleEating meat soba that I always notice every time I pass by. Unique black soba matches the rich soy sauce soup. The meat is also satisfying to bite into. It was delicious. It's standing, but there was a hook to hang the bag, so it was very comfortable. Also, was that a male staff member who looked stubborn and quiet? Is he an employee, not the owner?
View on GoogleFollowing the Iidabashi shop, today I tried the Edogawabashi shop. Past 14:00 on a weekday, there were only 3 other customers. Ordered thick-cut meat soba (750 yen). True to the "This is delicious" sign, there is a large thick-cut char siu that I have never seen in other soba shops, and the soba and soup are delicious. True to the Kanto-style sign, the soup was a dark-colored soy sauce base, but it was easy to drink. If it's 750 yen for this, it's worth eating. If I dare to hope, I wish the staff was a little friendlier. The Iidabashi shop was also like that...
View on GoogleThe shop opens at 6:30 AM, so it's grateful for the early morning work group. Cash payment in advance system. I tried a little hard and ordered "Thick Meat Soba". During the early morning hours I visited, a friendly mother was running it alone. Soba is boiled, soup is poured, and meat is put in as a final touch. The appearance of a large meat chunk lifted from a special pot with tongs and placed on the soba is a masterpiece! The meat is well stewed so it crumbles when picked up with chopsticks. Matches well with the rich soup! It was a luxurious breakfast. The "Meat Soba" recommended by the shop was also delicious with the sweetness of pork belly spreading in the mouth!
