The best Yakitori I've ever had
View on GoogleThis is my favorite yakitori place in Tokyo. I'm a food lover who adores yakitori and sushi, and I've eaten at most of the famous places, but this quality at this price?? All I can say is thank you, thank you. Hats off to the personality and taste of the head chef at 串本; I leave more smitten every time. Everything at 串本 is truly delicious, but my top recommendations are white liver, sasami (ume shiso), goma saba, skin (salt), and ramen. The white liver has no unpleasant smell at all and melts in your mouth. The sasami is a size or two bigger than at other places, which keeps it fluffy after grilling; it's just so tender. The goma saba isn't the level you'd expect at a yakitori shop. It's enough to make you wonder if this is a sushi restaurant. Please try it.
View on GoogleAbsolutely superb as always! This time I came with a friend, and the head chef was as handsome as ever! The yakitori was perfectly grilled and so delicious! Cheese tsukune Cheese green pepper Sasami Thigh Seseri Goma saba Seriously, it was all incredibly delicious! I'm also grateful they're open late! I drank too much sake too lol

View on GoogleA friend invited me to 串本 in Yushima's bar district. It's conveniently close to the station, about a 1-minute walk from exit 4 of Yushima Station. The head chef is handsome with a slightly intimidating face! But he's incredibly friendly and easy to talk to, and the place is always lively with regulars. He especially likes boxing and golf, so perhaps bring those up… This time we asked for 6 chef's-choice skewers. We had: ・Liver ・Breast ・Neck ・Heart ・Negima ・Tsukune ・Goma saba ・Tori soba ・Oyakodon The yakitori portions here are very large, so even 6 skewers are really satisfying. And the cooking is outstanding, with every skewer wonderfully springy and tender! They use salt from Yagaji Island in Okinawa; apparently, because its grains are large, they roast it and grind it finer before using it. Quite the attention to detail… The salt flavor came through clearly, and it was so delicious~ Everything is good, but if you come to 串本, you absolutely must try the seseri grilled with green onions! Apparently it won a JAPAN MENU AWARD from the food app「SARAH」, and it's incredibly delicious. The tsukune is homemade too, apparently carefully bound together from raw ingredients. It has a soft texture but is packed with umami. It also goes perfectly with the tare sauce and egg yolk. The finishing dishes were delicious too, so I got greedy and ordered 2 kinds! lol The tori soba was light overall but had a deep flavor; the carefully extracted chicken paitan broth was incredibly tasty and clung perfectly to the curly noodles. (It might have been a limited-time dish.) The oyakodon had loads of chicken! It was well seasoned, and the extra egg yolk made it even richer; I couldn't stop eating lol Finally, the special lemon sour is delicious! I recommend the mega mug! I think the prices are reasonable too. If you're eating yakitori in Yushima, this is the place! Thanks for the meal♪
