This Japanese izakaya is on a corner one street in from the exit of 湯島駅. It is by the exit opposite Yushima Tenjin and Ueno Park, and across the road from Okachimachi, so the area is quiet. I visited for lunch. The interior was larger than expected. We could dine comfortably in a space partitioned for each group. There seemed to be various seating options, from 1 person to around 10. Lunch options included a fish lunch, sashimi lunch, and a daily special, perhaps depending on the day? I had the daily special, chicken nanban. The homemade tartar sauce was delicious. The fish lunch looked a little sparse, perhaps? Since you can enjoy a tasty meal at a relaxed pace, I think it is a good option.
View on GoogleMy first visit! I came to entertain business guests and was impressed by the high-quality food!! But the prices are high! The restaurant is clean and a lovely space too! Do give it a try!
View on GoogleI visited for lunch. It is near 湯島駅, in a quiet residential neighborhood. I pass it every day, and from outside it seemed a little intimidating to enter, but once inside, it was a comfortable space. I ordered the daily lunch special and had karaage topped with curry. Both the curry and karaage were delicious, as was the natto served in a small dish. The portion was substantial too, so I think men would also find it satisfying. It was not particularly crowded when I went during the 13:00 hour. Do stop by if you are nearby.
View on GoogleYou can enjoy a relaxed meal. Considering it is fugu, the prices are not bad either.
View on GoogleI came in around 12:30 and was told the mackerel for the fish set meal was already sold out, so it would be Saikyo-grilled menuke instead. I ordered the fish set with a light portion of rice. 980円. It seemed to be grilled slowly, so the meal arrived after a bit of a wait. It included rice, miso soup, Saikyo-grilled menuke, simmered hijiki, and pickles; the overall portion felt small. The menuke seemed heavily grilled, perhaps explaining why the surface lacked an oily richness and tasted a little salty. Next time I would like to try the daily special or sashimi.
