Had a great night with this restaurant! Chef does not talk much but is very considerate and he takes good care of the customers need (I was offered a mosquito defence sticker while scratching my neck :)) The food is also very good, because of the language restriction, it took some time to communicate with the staff but in the end it was definitely worth it! Abundant, fresh and delicious! TV show is also very interesting;)
View on GoogleAbout a 5-minute walk from 本郷三丁目駅. In a peaceful Japanese-style space, I had the seasonal “Grilled fugu course, 11,000円 (tax included).” There are counter seats and tables in a tatami seating area. The calm Japanese atmosphere also suits business entertaining or anniversary dinners. The staff's service was attentive, and the young female part-timers explaining the dishes and recommended ways to eat fugu were pleasant, but the head chef seemed somewhat eccentric, and I felt his manner of speaking was rather forceful. “Grilled fugu course, 11,000円 (tax included)” Nikogori: a jelly-like delicacy packed with fugu umami. Refined broth flavor spreads through your mouth the moment you taste it. Fugu sashimi: beautiful, almost translucent thin slices. It was nice that each person had their own plate. Grilled fugu: the main dish, cooked on a shichirin grill, had an exquisite balance of fragrant skin and springy flesh. You eat it with ponzu and plenty of grated daikon. It was my first time, and it was deliciously springy. Zosui: the finishing rice porridge had flavorful broth and was satisfyingly gentle on the stomach. The pickles were so good I asked for more. Dessert: the kintsuba was subtly sweet and refined. The karaage was recommended and could be ordered by the single piece, so I added some. It was very delicious. The fugu's texture and flavor were consistently brought out with care. The firm flesh and delicate umami unique to fugu in season felt luxurious. A slightly indulgent Japanese dinner in 本郷 where you can enjoy fugu to your heart's content! The course was also well suited to fugu beginners. Thanks for the meal♪
View on GoogleA restaurant with delicious fugu dishes Today We're having the fugu zanmai course! First, nikogori A refined dish with a gentle texture Then fugu sashimi With ponzu, garnishes, and a little sudachi Ah, delicious Next, “grilled fugu” Marinated fugu flesh grilled over charcoal There aren't many restaurants Serving grilled fugu, are there? This really is delicious The karaage is tender and delicious too Then the fugu hot pot arrives The refills of sake were taking effect, so I only have 1 photo.. sorry The fugu hot pot served in broth is superb! The egg rice porridge made with the remaining broth Also has a subtle fugu flavor—a luxurious dish It was a thoroughly satisfying course Right through the final tea and sweets Find an opportunity to give it a try Thanks for the meal!
View on GoogleThis is a quietly tucked-away Japanese restaurant about a 5-minute walk from 本郷三丁目駅. #本郷ととや I visited for lunch. Inside there are counter and table seats, with tatami flooring in the table area. It's a space with a calm Japanese atmosphere. There are generally 2 menu options, though apparently some days have 3. That day there were * Salt-grilled saba (1,200円) * Medai teriyaki (1,300円) Of the 2 options, I ordered #目鯛の照り焼き. The medai had thick flesh with a springy, tender texture. Its flavor was mild without any strong notes, and the teriyaki sauce was lightly seasoned, so I could really appreciate the fish's natural flavor. It was also delicious and refreshing with grated daikon. Thanks for the meal. I'm also grateful to the friend who told me about this delicious restaurant. 📍Address 東京都文京区本郷3丁目31-3 📍Opening hours Monday: 17:30〜22:00 Tuesday–Friday: 11:30〜13:30 / 17:30〜22:00 Saturday: 17:30〜22:00 Sunday: closed 📍Access 5-minute walk from 本郷三丁目駅
View on GoogleAfter the tessa, the main dish is grilled fugu rather than tecchiri. It was my first time trying it, and it was delicious! Lately, tecchiri has felt like a bit too much for me, but this is manageable even for older people whose appetites have decreased. It came with zosui too, so it was perfect😊 Recommended.
