とんかつくるりんTonkatsukururin
We fry our tonkatsu using a molecular cooking device. This keeps the coating from absorbing much oil, making it crisp and light, less likely to cause indigestion, and suitable for eating every day. The meat is also juicy and exceptionally satisfying. We use fresh breadcrumbs and carefully select everything, including the sauce, cabbage, rice, and tabletop seasonings.

We had never heard of this restaurant and wasn’t planning to visit. We just happened to pass by and caught a really amazing smell, which turned out to be coming from here. So after visiting the nearby shrine, we decided to give it a try. When we went in, we realised it’s actually a small shop, but somehow it has a really nice atmosphere. Very cosy and with a warm, local feel. It was comfortable to sit in. There are booth seats inside, but we chose to sit at the front where we could watch the staff cooking, which made the experience even better. I ordered the tempura set. From the photos in the menu, I thought it would be a small portion, more like a snack, but it turned out to be huge! It came with three pieces of tempura, two small bowls of dipping sauce, miso soup, and rice; definitely great value. As for the taste, the tempura was a pleasant surprise. It wasn’t greasy at all, and it didn’t have the heavy flavour I usually associate with tempura. Instead, it tasted light and natural, without feeling overly seasoned. It didn’t leave me feeling thirsty afterwards, but it also wasn’t bland; just really well balanced. I actually liked it a lot. The rice was Japanese short-grain and tasted good, and the miso soup was decent. There was also a self-service water station, which was convenient and meant we didn’t have to ask the staff. My friend ordered the pork cutlet curry set, and I tried a piece. Honestly, it was a bit below expectations. I’ve had quite a few really good curry pork cutlets before, and this one didn’t quite compare. My friend felt the same. To be fair, we were drawn in by the amazing smell from outside, but the actual taste didn’t fully match that expectation, which was a bit disappointing. Overall, it was a satisfying meal. If you’re visiting, I would strongly recommend the tempura. It’s on a completely different level compared to the curry pork cutlet. I’d give 1 star off just for the curry pork cutlet. Everything else deserves full marks!
View on GoogleA traditional Japanese family restaurant. Food is freshly made in front of you. Their choice of rice is definitely the soul in addition to the meat. I took the advantage of free flow of rice. It was too yummy. 😋
View on GoogleThe food is amazing, you should definitely try the prawns and the pork cutlet. And the staff is very friendly and talking English. A very good authentic experience in Tokyo 🥰
