A sushi restaurant a 10-second walk from exit 2 of Yushima Station—so close you'd feel like going even in torrential rain without an umbrella. I booked and visited on a weekday evening. They don't have synchronized start times or fixed seatings, so they can accommodate your reservation time, whether early or whenever. The interior is very small and intimate, with just 5 counter seats. Only 4 seats were occupied that day, and the neighboring customers left in the second half, so it felt like having the place to myself and I could really relax. The bill was 25,000円 with 2 drinks, so the course was probably a little over 2万円. For that price, you get a substantial meal of 9 small dishes, 13 nigiri, 1 small rice bowl, a sushi roll, and egg, which I think is excellent value. The small dishes offer plenty of variety, from simple preparations to combinations of ingredients. The sushi rice has a pronounced red-vinegar flavor and plenty of savory depth. It's slightly firm and sticky but separates easily, and the nigiri are formed very loosely, so they fall apart delicately. The rice has a strong presence, but the toppings all hold their own, keeping everything balanced. The lightly cooked torigai cockle formed together with its liver, and the plump, springy kasugodai were memorable. The tuna was delicious too. And the shrimp was huge. I thought the topping quality was high for the price. Yushima is amazing—you can casually visit a place like this without struggling to get a reservation.

The chef's skills are outstanding. There may be plenty of great places if you pay more, but finding one that surpasses this quality at this price could be difficult.

You can enjoy elegant, delicious sushi. The chef has excellent taste, including in his choice of ingredients.

Every dish is carefully prepared and very delicious. The downside is the high price.
