(2nd visit) Ordered 玉子とじ, 850円. It arrived nearly filling the bowl and looked like a lot. Lifting the soba out from beneath the egg revealed thin white noodles, reminding me that this place serves Sarashina-style soba. There are plenty of those thin noodles, so the portion feels quite substantial. The broth is a little light on dashi flavor, but the fluffy egg soaks it up beautifully and tastes great. I recommend the たまごとじそば. (1st visit) The menu outside said 「衣笠丼とたぬきそば(温・冷)セット850円」, so I went in. It arrived without much of a wait. The 衣笠丼 looked like 他人丼 at first, but it was simmered fried tofu covered with egg, and quite delicious. Being a soba shop, I imagine their dashi and kaeshi are good. The set supposedly comes with a mini rice bowl, but even after asking for a lighter portion, there was a fair amount. The soba was thin and white, perhaps made with Sarashina flour. Smooth and well suited to being served cold, it was delicious too. The soba portion is also a normal size, so it's plenty satisfying for lunch.

そば処 多なか A soba shop on Yokomizaka in Yushima. Walking through rainy Yushima, I found this quiet-looking soba shop and went in. Inside are 6 table seats. A relaxed Japanese atmosphere. This time I ordered そぼろご飯とたぬき蕎麦, 880円. It arrived without much of a wait. Soba topped with golden tenkasu. そぼろご飯 colorfully decorated with red pickled ginger and egg. A simple combination, but it looked delicious. Actually, together the two make quite a substantial meal. Time to dig in. Both the soba and soboro tasted just as expected, in a good, comforting way. The tenkasu seemed a little stale, but well, it is what it is. The そぼろご飯 was tasty too. I enjoyed an easygoing, relaxed, good-value lunch. Recently, as the pandemic has eased, more places have been getting crowded at lunchtime. A relaxed place like this could come in handy. I'll return.

2022/9 Visited for lunch. It seems to be run by a married couple and the mother, who handles the register. It's not a speed-focused operation like a chain, so it's best to allow a little extra time. I went in around 11:40, and several groups were already there. I had cold 肉南蛮 soba. The soba was thin with a pleasantly firm bite. The broth was nice too. It came with sobayu. If portion size is your priority, a set meal is probably better. There are several tables for 4 and 2. Depending on the situation, solo customers voluntarily moved or made room for others, and I felt the kindness of the regulars. The mother at the register has character too.

The food tastes good and the prices are reasonable, so I think it's good value. But the service is far too slow. There were 3 of us, and only 1 person ahead of us, yet we waited about 30 minutes for our food. Also, people who arrived later were served first. It's best to go when you have plenty of time.

It depends on your taste, The soba is white and fairly thin. It has a firm bite and was delicious served cold. The dipping sauce is lightly salted too, just how I like it. Planning to come daily. The mini rice bowl set is just under 1000円. Nice.
