I visited Sesamitei around 3 PM, so it was very quiet and there was no line. At that time, I was the only customer. Since I was not sure what to order, I followed the recommendation and tried the dandanmen. The taste was really good. The broth was rich and savory, but still refreshing. I noticed that there were small slices of lemon inside, which gave it a nice fresh flavor. The noodles also had a good texture, not too firm and not too soft. The portion was quite filling, and the nira/chives added a nice touch to the dish. The interior was clean, neat, and calm. The seating style is more for solo dining, with individual seats around one large round table, so I think this place is better for eating quietly alone rather than for chatting with friends. They also played classical music inside, which made the atmosphere feel very relaxing. The free drink was not just plain water, but cold tea, maybe mugicha. It was very refreshing, especially during summer. As for the spice level, I personally did not find it spicy. The service was also very kind. When I left, they even gave me a coupon for a marinated egg, which was a nice surprise. Overall, it is a nice and comfortable place to enjoy dandanmen alone around Hongo.

The famous Dandan noodles store among the Tokyo U students in front of the university. I ordered the one with deep-fried pork on top. It was good in general however, In my view, it was not as good as everybody promoted. I like it if it had more creamy and rich flavor.

This is by far the best ramen shop in the world. When I worked nearby I visited often for lunch. The black seasame ramen with tonkatsu is my absolute favorite. The atmosphere is wonderful with jazz music. Service is prompt and friendly. The Jasmine tea is refreshing. I've searched for 15 years across Japan and the US. Never found the level of umami and deliciousness of this shop. Absolutely a must-visit! Thank you for all of the years and bowls of ramen.

Very good food. They have good noodles, pass music, and fantastic dumplings. Strongly recommend to anyone for a quick bite in a cozy environment. The staffs are fluent in Japanese, English and Mandarin, and they are also very friendly. I will definitely come back again for other things on the menu.
