Tasty anmitsu in a cozy atmosphere Situated just opposite the Yushima Tenji shrine, Sabo Matsuo is a friendly, cozy place. We were there for anmitsu, which was delicious. But the quiet atmosphere makes me want to visit for lunch or dinner. Being away from the main tourist path, it is not crowded and is comfortable. Definitely worth a snack stop or longer meal....

I booked weekday afternoon tea. The good points☺︎︎ The taste exceeds the price! The temari sushi was refined enough to eat without soy sauce. The small dishes were easy to enjoy, and the fried food was delicious too. The white bean paste accompanying the anmitsu dessert was rich, and the warabi mochi melted in the mouth… even when full, you can still enjoy it. The staff were also very attentive, checking whether we wanted drink refills. The restroom was spacious too! Things to consider☠ The seats are close together, so it may not suit conversations you don't want overheard, and it might feel noisy when crowded. The restaurant isn't very big, so I imagine weekends and public holidays get busy. Booking is the surest option! Overall, absolutely worth it… The streets around the restaurant were calm and elegant, hardly feeling like Ueno. It's a place that makes you want to behave in a way that suits the setting. I'll be back!
