Machi......Itaria? Same vibe as a machi chuuka somehow, except Italian. Jp takes on italian dishes, but also big portion sizes for cheap. Ambiance is good, and the staff are all very friendly.

Many people say Tokyo is a foodie’s paradise; however, I’ve been extremely disappointed since my arrival. I will say I wasn’t expecting much from Osteria Capanna, but I left pleasantly surprised. I will state for the record, this establishment didn’t serve authentic Italian food….it is Italian based for Japanese palates. Please note, the restaurant is typical Japanese in the sense it is extremely cramped for space. The pizza was very thin and wafer like. The pastas were al dente and not too bad. The arrabiata sauce had good flavor. The wine list was limited, but the prices were very reasonable. Overall I would recommend if you’re looking for Japanese-Italian fusion……but this isn’t the place if you are seeking truly authentic Italian.

The bruschetta is amazing. I’ve simply not had bruschetta that was as filling yet tasty at other restaurants. The pepperoncino pasta is also recommended. Really cozy place and really appreciate the warmth of the chef and servers. You can add toppings to pasta as per choice so lots of options for vegetarian/vegan palettes.

Love Osteria Capanna! The chef is very nice and the food is delicious. The Bruschetta is so addictive - I always feel like ordering more plates haha! Love the arabiatta and pepperoncino pasta. Even the desserts are delicious - we had tiramisu and affogato. Highly recommend!

I went for lunch and chose a carbonara. It was one of the best I had in Tokyo. Still not done the Italian way (there was cream inside), but unlike most carbonara I tried, it had a great rich taste, not just pasta water with way too less cheese as usual.
