This tiny Onigiri restaurant is about to close its door. There was such a sweet nostalgic feelings among the patrons. I ordered one of each, not really knowing what they were. They are prepared as ordered. Looking up at the map and realize I am very close to Ueno Park. So I took my rice balls into the park, sat down by the lotus pond, and savor that sweet, simple nostalgia.
View on GoogleThey shape the rice balls with great care. There are lots of varieties, and they are generously filled‼️ The prices are about the same as convenience stores, quite ordinary. Recommended. It is a popular shop, but they are only open around lunchtime Monday through Thursday (normally). What a shame❗
View on GoogleAn omusubi shop using Saga rice. I visited just after opening (1/18). A male staff member? The owner? kindly said, “There aren’t any lined up on the counter, but we can make whichever ones you order,” so I chose ginger and fried tofu, and shiso leaf and sakura shrimp, which caught my interest on the sign. While I waited, 2.3 people soon came in. Space inside is limited, so a line formed outside the shop. The daily menu is posted on the wall, giving you the pleasure of choosing something each day. They also had several side dishes, and I bought happosai and stir-fried shrimp and broccoli. I think both the omusubi and side dishes offer good value. They were loosely shaped and, in my personal opinion, fell apart a little easily when eaten, but they were delicious.
View on GoogleThe regular fillings are delicious, and so are the daily specials. I finish them in no time every visit. They are also very reasonably priced at 140円 each, so I always end up buying lots. They are apparently closing at the end of October, so there is not much time left, but I hope to visit as often as possible.
View on GoogleI have been going there to buy food often lately. Both the side dishes and onigiri are delicious. There is a wide variety that changes daily, and the onigiri made with seasoned rice and asari clams was especially good!
