A great izakaya that serves lunch set meals. I really love their tantanmen and chicken nanban set. The owner is an adorable young guy and very friendly. Highly recommend this place; it's delicious and I love it, and I'll come eat here often from now on.
View on Google(4th visit) It seems the dine-in menu has expanded. This time I ordered the soupless tantanmen for the second time, spiciness 2, numbness 2, 850 yen. It's packed with nuts as always, but this time the very coarsely chopped onion stood out. Well, I don't dislike it, so no complaints. I'd say the noodles fall into the thick category. If you mix it well, there's a moderate mala sensation, and I still think the tantanmen here is delicious. (3rd visit) I ordered what seemed to be a new noodle item, soupless mapo noodles, 850 yen. They asked about spiciness and numbness, and when I said regular, they said that would be 2. What came out shortly after was this, with lots of mapo tofu topped with bok choy. It was also generously covered with spicy chili oil and numbing powdered Sichuan pepper. I mixed it well so the chili oil and Sichuan pepper coated everything evenly. The spiciness was fairly ordinary, but the numbness was quite strong, and the numbing mapo clung well to the noodles, making it a pretty tasty dish. (2nd visit) Ordered the white tantanmen (white sesame). 880 yen. You choose spiciness and numbness each from 3 levels, and this time too I asked for spiciness 2, numbness 2. Also, since a small rice is free, I asked for an even smaller portion than the small rice. There's a constant stream of people coming to buy bento, but it seems almost no one eats tantanmen in the shop. The white tantanmen is the type with quite a lot of nuts, with the richness of white sesame and the heat of chili oil coming through. The ground meat has a numbing flavor and is delicious eaten with the soup. The noodles are handmade-style with a moderate curl that picks up the soup well, and I enjoyed it. Next time, the black one. (1st visit) If I remember correctly, this used to be where a rice shop sold bento at the storefront. It's a tantanmen specialty shop that also sells bento. It's a compact layout: a bento table in the center of the shop, with counter seats and tables for two around it. According to the menu, there's tantanmen, soupless tantanmen, and also ramen. Also, a small rice is free. I ordered the soupless tantanmen, 850 yen. You can choose spiciness and numbness each from 3 levels, so I asked for 2 on both. It looked like thick noodles that seemed to be pre-mixed, topped with green onion, spicy meat miso, and nuts, and I could see sauce at the bottom, so I tried mixing it from the bottom before eating. That seemed to be the right call: the moderate numbness, heat, and sesame sauce clung well to the thick noodles, and with the texture of the nuts it was pretty good, or rather quite delicious. I ate it in one go, but of course there was sauce left on the plate, so I asked for a little rice (half of a small rice) and put it in, which was also the right call, and I enjoyed it to the very end. Next time I'll try the one with soup.
View on GoogleMy impression was that it's a mysterious ramen shop that suddenly appeared in a bento shop (rice shop). There's no denying it's a bit hard to walk into. •Soupless tantanmen ・・・Lots of nuts and green onion. If you're adding extra, maybe ground meat rather than chashu? Average or slightly tasty. Better than the shop at the bottom of the hill. •Black tantanmen (large meat) ・・・Quite delicious. This one has no nuts. The black sesame paste is delicious. Maybe better value than the famous shop in Hongo・・・? I think I'll go to try the white sesame one too, so I'll report again.
View on GoogleBento 650-700 yen. PayPay accepted. The yuurinchi didn't taste bad, but it was soggy. Better not to expect much from the sides. 【If this was helpful, give it a Like 👍!】
View on GoogleUsed it as an izakaya at night Maybe it recently reopened after a renovation, because the place is clean. Alcohol is cheap too, and I think 2 hours of all-you-can-drink including beer for 1800 yen is pretty rare these days. The rice is delicious since next door is a rice shop. The lineup of snacks is neither too many nor too few, just right I think. I think it's a good place to casually drop by with coworkers.
