A wonderful unagi dining experience! The restaurant is set in a lovely Zen-inspired place with a beautiful garden, which really adds to the peaceful atmosphere. Be sure to make a reservation in advance. The unagi meal itself is top quality, you can choose between soy sauce or plain style, and it comes as a full set. The chawanmushi is especially delightful, with tender pieces of unagi hidden inside. Even the desserts look beautifully premium, though I personally found the taste just so-so. That said, the price is on the higher side, but the overall food quality makes it worth it for a special treat. My only suggestion would be to have at least one waitress who can communicate in English, as that would greatly improve the experience for international guests. Still, a very nice place to enjoy authentic unagi

It is a letdown. Should have read the negative reviews before visiting, those negative reviews truly reflect the restaurant’s currently situation: poorly run place by student-quality staff, mediocre food, high prices with 10% service charge. Bottom line: I would suggest only walking in the garden to appreciate the beautiful scenery and stay away from this restaurant. The restaurant is located in the garden of a prestige hotel. However, this is the only good part of it. Even with a well advanced reservation, we were told to be sit at the counter right next to a few of tourists. We have to voice out for a table instead. Mind you, this place is literally 80% empty at dinner time when we enter. During the entire dinner, I notice the restaurant only has a couple more parties entering. This is a bad start of the meal. Next, ordering. The staff who took our order understands some basic English, but she is very cold. This is very different from another other Tokyo restaurants we have visited. Also, it is frustrated that we asked for water, and it took them awhile before water is served. I thought the staff were busy, but no, I saw them chit chatting in the kitchen area while leaving us to wait. This is again an unprofessional practice. Food: to be honest, the food quality is only mediocre, especially consider the value of the meal. This restaurant charge higher prices than places with similar restaurant but I do not see why I need to pay this extra. The eel is a bit dry. The rice is not tasty. The worst is the chawanmushi. It is overcooked and barely any flavour. Payment: they asked us to pay at the front. Again, this is strange because with a 10% service charge, they still expect their customer to do extra work. At the same time, they have a trainee at the pay station with the girl who took our order. I was thinking at that time “the blind leading the blind” as the staff who took our order is already under-performing, and she is training another person!!? We were the “guinea pig.” I guess this place used to be better. May be this is more of a “norm” in Tokyo as things are more expensive and quality people is hard to find. However, student-quality staff at a high end restaurant is unacceptable.

Absolutely delicious unagi. And the omelette is great too. The hotel grounds is quite large and beautiful so I recommend visiting even for people not staying.

Located in the Chinzanso hotel garden, it was a nice walk from the hotel building to the restaurant. Nice and quiet environment, tasty eel rice.

Delicious food and amazing garden. However, I felt there's difference in treatment for being a non Japanese speaking solo traveler. 1. I was sit in front of the wall in the counter seat while there were other empty seats available. When I asked to changed to other seat with view, the answer was a simple no; 2. No tea is served until the meal was arrived which is 30 minutes after my arrival; 3.I got the check when I have not yet finished my meal or drink.
