A café in a shopping street roughly between Edogawabashi and Iidabashi. I stopped in while running an errand nearby at lunchtime on a weekday. It had the typical appearance of an old-fashioned café, but the menu displayed outside looked delicious, so I went in. Inside was a calm space with a TV on and several wooden tables. It seemed to be run by the owner and his wife, and the wife showed me to a seat. The lunch menu centered on daily specials, with curry, katsudon, ginger pork, and more, so it was hard to choose. I ordered 【あらびきハンバーグ定食】1,000円 and it arrived in about 10 minutes. The set included a fairly large hamburger steak covered with demi-glace sauce containing sautéed mushrooms, topped with sliced cheese and fried eggplant, on a plate with salad, macaroni salad, and shibazuke pickles, plus white rice and miso soup. The hamburger steak had a surprisingly coarsely ground beef texture and savory flavor, paired deliciously with a demi-glace sauce balancing acidity, mellowness, and richness. It was shaped firmly but still tender enough to cut with chopsticks, and the more I chewed, the more flavor emerged. It was a wonderful hamburger steak. The cheese blended in here and there, adding further richness and making it delicious. The side salads provided a nice palate break, and the slightly firm white rice and generous miso soup full of tofu, fried tofu, and wakame made for an excellent lunch. The other diners, and even customers buying takeaway bento, all ordered the hamburger steak, so it seemed to be a popular staple. The hamburger steak is a must, but many other dishes looked delicious too, so next time I'd like to come enjoy them with some alcohol.
View on Google(Visited on March 6, 2024) 「ななみや」, a tasty neighborhood set-meal restaurant. They also offer takeaway bento. I'd known about this place for a while but hadn't had a chance to visit. I finally went that day. I'd originally planned to have the “sausage and egg curry,” but when I arrived, the daily special “coarsely ground hamburger steak set meal” looked very appetizing. Visited alone on Wednesday at 11:33. No customers before me. (The restaurant opens at 11:30. Afterward, about 4 solo customers arrived while I was there. There were also several takeaway orders by phone and a few customers picking them up.) I ordered the daily special, “coarsely ground hamburger steak set meal 930円.” The food took 13 minutes to arrive. The hamburger steak was thick and looked delicious. And it really was. The cheese and demi-glace sauce were as described on the menu, but there was even some unbattered fried eggplant on top. The thick hamburger steak was relatively low in fat. The demi-glace sauce was simply delicious! The side salads were plentiful too: cabbage salad, macaroni salad, pickles, and chikuwa stuffed with cucumber. The miso soup was full of ingredients: tofu, daikon, cabbage, nameko, wakame, fried tofu, and green onion. It felt like “a tasty neighborhood set-meal restaurant.” While eating, I ordered a takeaway “coarsely ground hamburger steak bento 900円” for my wife. The bento was ready 10 minutes after ordering. Finally, I paid the combined dine-in and bento total of 1832円 with PayPay. (930円+900円+plastic bag 2円=1832円.) Thank you for the meal!
View on GoogleVisited again on July 30, 2025 Ordered the Ise udon and fried white fish set (1000円). Recently, Ise udon has been served on Fridays, and apparently it can also be ordered after 13:00 on other days. I was able to order it today too. It takes a little time to boil, but the Ise udon is delicious as always, soft yet slightly chewy. If it splashes onto white clothing, you're done for, so I think it's best to be careful when slurping. I've washed my dress shirts and other clothes so many times… But the taste still makes me order it again. Visited again on 2025/07/23 I've visited many times, but I'm adding this because I saw a new menu item. It was my first time seeing the coarsely ground hamburger steak set with ume, shiso, grated daikon, and ponzu (1000円). They said they wanted to offer something refreshing because it's hot. The ume, shiso, grated daikon, and ponzu are light and delicious. The coarsely ground hamburger steak here really suits my taste. However, note that it's a daily special, so it's not always available. The grilled-meat daily sets are generous but greasy, so they're probably not my preference. Unlike before, lunch coffee now costs an extra 200円, but the hot coffee is quite good. The iced coffee tastes ordinary. The following is an older review, and prices and other things have changed. Some additions were made on 2020/10/07. This café serves curry and ginger pork rice bowls as regular items, with Ise udon and other daily specials. The curry tastes like a slightly better version of homemade curry. It can't match a curry specialty restaurant, but it's reasonably tasty. Daily specials include taco rice, Ise udon, beef shigureni sets, and more. You won't know what will be served until Monday. The photo shows the daily Ise udon set (beef shigureni). Ise udon comes in a set with curry, fried white fish, a mini ginger pork rice bowl, and so on. (Udon isn't available on its own.) My favorite Ise udon has a little chew to the noodles and isn't overly limp. Adding shichimi changes the flavor, so you can enjoy it without getting bored. There are lunch drinks: customers who eat by 15:00 can have coffee or iced tea for 150円 instead of the usual 380円. The hot coffee is delicious because they grind the beans on the spot. Each table has a sheet explaining how to eat Ise udon. It says the Ise udon sauce is delicious poured over the rice in the mini rice bowl, and it certainly went well together. As for prices, set meals are generally 850円, with occasional daily sets at 880円. The ginger pork rice bowl was a little cheaper at 650円. They have NHK on the TV at lunchtime, but you can sit and eat peacefully, and the food is delicious, so it's a favorite of mine. There seem to be several local regulars too, so I think it's loved by the neighborhood. When you pay, they give you a candy, gum, a small pack of kaki-pi, or something similar, which is a small pleasure. Addition: I've posted a photo of the daily hamburger steak. It's very meaty and delicious. The rice portions are generally large, so you might want to ask for less. Addition: A daily pork with black vinegar dish had been added to the menu. The noodles are Ise udon noodles. But the Ise udon and curry set might taste better. 2019/08/27 addition: I tried the summer-only tantan-style somen. It was pleasantly delicious. The standard portion is already substantial, but larger portions also seem available. 2020/10/07 addition: Adding an update after a long time, amid the COVID pandemic. I ordered the daily beef rice bowl and curry set (880円). It said that mixing the beef rice bowl and curry was delicious too, and it certainly was! Spoons and other utensils that used to be laid out are now handed out individually, and dividers have been installed as shown in the photo. I'd overlooked it, but bento had been added too. Apparently you can take a bento home in 10–15 minutes. Bento could be a good option too.
View on GoogleA homey neighborhood eatery rooted in the local community. Large karaage, crisp-textured ginger pork, and miso soup packed with ingredients that tastes like Mom's cooking. Bento are made to order rather than prepared in advance. Though I think they should tidy up the interior a little more!
View on GoogleI had today's daily special. It was a little salty but delicious, with a nicely balanced portion, so it was good. The pork belly and miso soup were especially delicious. The flavor, interior, and staff's service were very good, but I was really bothered and put off by a staff member repeatedly coughing inside. Without the coughing, I think this would easily be a 5-star restaurant.
