During my business-trips, I have been there eating several times. The food is delicious and the owners are super friendly. They also serve outstanding quality sake. This isn't quantity, this is pure quality. Enjoy!

Honmyoji, now located in Sugamo, was once a large Hokke-sect temple occupying the entire plateau around the former address Kikusaka 82. Its grounds contained the grave of Toyama Saemon-no-jo Kagemoto, known as Toyama no Kin-san. This is said to have been the starting point of the Furisode Fire that caused the Great Fire of Meireki, but that is uncertain and there are various theories. Today, it's hard to imagine a temple once stood here. Across Kikusaka is a slope named after this temple. It leads from midway along Kikusaka toward Hongo Elementary School.

The 『冷やしたぬき蕎麦』 for 1200円 was far from what I'd imagined. I just wanted some simple soba, but was surprised to find pineapple, mandarin orange, and shirataki (?) in it. Perhaps like those Showa-era somen noodles topped with a red cherry. The soba was delicious, but...

I learned that Tokyo dashi is labor-intensive and deeply flavorful. It's completely different from what you taste around stations. The noodles are delicious, too. Even a family member with liver damage, who had recently wasted a set meal at a tempura restaurant in Osaka, could eat the version topped with anago tempura without any problems. The anago is fluffy yet flavorful. The tempura coating is thin and neatly applied, with excellent oil drainage, and apparently put little strain on the stomach. The oil itself was light and fresh, with a slight sesame aroma. According to the owner, if he doesn't work seriously and give it his all, the customers will scold him. It's wonderful to have an environment where restaurants nurtured by customers who understand good food can continue. Near our home, a sincere, delicious restaurant that worked steadily closed and was bought out, and now serves something completely different under the same name. I'm envious. I ate so eagerly that I couldn't take photos. I'll just post a photo of the restaurant.
