There is a cafe on the first floor if the museum. You can have a coffee or tea and a light meal here after visiting the museum.
View on GoogleHad a great time. We all know Mori Ogai (if you are Japanese) but don’t know who he was. This place is a good place to learn about him.

View on GoogleThe building is very impressive, but the exhibition is not very good.
View on Google【Fun even if you barely know Mori Ogai! A quiet memorial museum to drop by on a Sendagi stroll】 Not just for literature lovers — even for people who don't know Mori Ogai at all, it was a memorial museum worth visiting! The exhibition isn't enormously large, but since Ogai's life was pretty eventful, quite a lot of time passed while I read through it carefully☺️ ⚫Atmosphere & Exhibits This memorial museum stands on the site of Kanchoro, where Mori Ogai lived for about 30 years. I was imagining an old-fashioned literature museum, but the building is quite modern and stylish! The exhibition rooms are calm too, so you can quietly look at each item one by one. You can learn not only about Mori Ogai as a writer, but also that he studied in Germany as a military doctor, his relationships with his family, his circle of friends at the time, and more — it was interesting how he comes across as much more human than the Mori Ogai I knew from textbooks✨️ The exhibits seem to change quite a bit depending on the special exhibition, so it might be good to go when there's a theme you're interested in! ⚫Time Needed If you just look around quickly, about 30 minutes to 1 hour; if you read the texts and materials thoroughly, I think you can enjoy it for over 1 hour. The exhibition is compact but there's quite a lot of text, so the more you like literature or history, the longer you'll probably stay! ⚫Café & Rest There's also Morikine Cafe on the 1st floor☕ It's a quiet café where you can see the greenery of the garden, and it's nice that you can take a break right after seeing the museum! You can also use just the café, so I think it's a hidden gem for when you're strolling around Sendagi and want to rest somewhere a bit quiet☺️ ⚫Recommended For Recommended for looking around carefully on your own, or dropping by while strolling Yanesen or Sendagi in a small group, like a pair! It's at the top of Dangozaka from Sendagi Station, and there are also places nearby where you can feel literature and history, so I think it's even more fun to combine it with a walk around town rather than making the museum your only destination✨️ It was a very Sendagi-like memorial museum where you can quietly immerse yourself in literature and history☺️
