This restaurant is right in front of 東大's Hongo campus. I like places with a retro atmosphere and visit many of them. This one exudes something special even among those. Everything inside, including the cash register, feels like it's from the Showa or Taisho era. This time I had the signature ハヤシライス. The rice and sauce were neatly divided into halves, and it wouldn't be an exaggeration to call the presentation perfect. The people there were very kind, and I stayed a long time chatting with them. It's a place that makes you want to return.

A lovely place packed with Showa atmosphere. The owner's character shines through. As for the flavor, it's probably a matter of taste. The historic interior and cash register have real charm.

A quiet restaurant with an early-Showa retro feel, in an alley opposite the main gate of 東大's Hongo campus. Curry seems to be its signature dish; despite its thin consistency, it has a rich, deep flavor and is very delicious. Do visit if you want to travel back to Showa.
