Today was my first visit to Japanese restaurant 「桑名」 in a bar district near Yushima Station with a lovely old-fashioned entertainment-quarter atmosphere. With counter and table seating, the interior is neither too big nor too small. Such a comfortable atmosphere. We booked for two at 18 and sat in the corner at the far end of the counter, where we could chat leisurely while facing each other. Of course, every dish was delicious! We left it up to the chef and enjoyed everything slowly♪ お通し, 白子ポン酢, 刺身盛合わせ, くりから, カラスミ—at this point, it had to be sake♪ 宮泉 from Aizu, Fukushima! A richly expressive, full-bodied sake! Exactly my taste♪ Then came skewers of 銀杏, レバー, and 砂肝. Finally, the gratin packed with seafood was truly delicious! Between 2 of us, 4 bottles of 赤星 and 2 go of sake, totaling 11,000円 per person. Ah, what a great place!

Visited for the first time with 7 friends from my school days, on the recommendation of a friend who's a regular. Even on a first visit, the homey atmosphere felt comfortable, and the cheerful, approachable chef-owner and his wife welcomed us warmly. Every dish was delicious, especially the sashimi and grilled dishes. The abalone was astonishingly tender, and the 鰻くりから焼き melted the moment it entered my mouth. A place you'll want to visit as a treat for yourself.

It was my first visit, but the fish and yakitori were incredibly delicious! A homey restaurant clearly cherished by its regulars☺️ Ask the chef for sake that pairs with the food, and delicious sake just keeps coming lol. Perfect scores for food, service, and atmosphere💯 One visit made me a fan!
