Great old school Japanese coffee house. Good coffee, old but comfy chairs, the master barely talks, all of which make an perfect Showa era style chill environment. I went after visiting Koishikawa botanical park, and had a cup of coffee here. Great ending to great sunny Saturday in May.
View on GoogleNostalgic cafe shop. The risotto was good
View on GoogleCash only. Smoking is allowed. When someone is smoking, the cigarette smell is incredibly strong. I arrived after 14:00. I ordered a sandwich, but they couldn't make it because the fillings had run out. The strawberry float didn't taste of strawberries and was extremely watery. The cheesecake was ordinary too. The owner was a little hard of hearing, perhaps because of his age.
View on GoogleHakusan Station on the Toei Mita Line Not far from the station is Coffee & Tea Kenyan Established in 1981. A triangular sign World Coffee Clever Clever coffee uses a filter to strain thoroughly... Coffee made with an immersion dripper. Putting that on the sign really gives you a sense of the era. Looking at the door, you can see the years the shop has lived through. This quietly charming, twilight-colored coffee shop allows smoking. Every single thing inside makes me grin. That Coke left sitting there—is it real? I touched it, and there really is something inside. Well, you certainly couldn't open this one. Lots of regulars... They all order coffee without looking at the menu. I ask the owner, let me see the menu♪ A menu with tiny lettering. There are meal options too. Would you call this jumble unhygienic? A comment about this shop... said it was unhygienic and dirty, but is it really? It's a beautiful scene to me. Picture-perfect. An old cash register. The Showa-era cash register I love. The best♪ Wonderful! When I ordered Kenyan Tea, the owner asked, Iced? Hot! And, conversations like this become such fun. The Kenyan Tea is delicious. Pizza toast. Just onions and cheese, but... Add Tabasco, take a hearty bite, and enjoy. I think it's a good coffee shop. Once all the customers have settled down, the owner sits at the counter and reads the newspaper, like watching a scene from the Showa era.
View on GoogleAn irresistible place for smokers. A coffee shop where smoking is allowed at every seat, quite rare these days. The coffee is good, and the low price of 700円 for a set with toast is great too. One thing to note: sometimes you can't stay long. After I'd been there about 1 hour, I was asked to leave. I'd stayed because it was practically empty, but apparently that makes no difference.
