Small place with delicious seafood teishoku. Ran by a very friendly old couple. Such a homely, precious vibe in this place. A special kind of restaurant you can only see in Japan.
View on GoogleWhat a wonderful little place! Amazing lunch menu, super friendly service and really good price. 100% recommended
View on Google(3rd visit) Ordered かれい煮付け with a small rice portion, 920円. It arrived shortly after the earlier customer's fried dish. Alongside the flounder, rice, and miso soup were simmered dishes (atsuage, lotus root, and more), 茶わん蒸し, pickles, and fruit, making a rather lively tray. Flounder is a classic simmered fish, and its mild white flesh had absorbed the cooking broth, making it perfect with rice. The generously filled miso soup, dashi-rich 茶わん蒸し, and simmered atsuage were all delicious. For this selection and flavor at under 1000円, I think it's a fairly priced restaurant. (2nd visit) Ordered さんま塩焼き定食 with a small rice portion, 900円. Apparently sanma catches are poor and prices high again this year, so 900円 with this many sides is a bargain. The sanma flesh came off the bones easily and was firm and delicious. The simmered side dishes and 茶わん蒸し had comforting flavors, perfect for lunch. I thoroughly enjoyed it. (1st visit) Upon entering, an older woman directed me to an empty table for two. She wiped and disinfected the table with alcohol, then sprayed my hands with alcohol too and put up an acrylic divider. I was also prompted to sanitize when leaving, so they seem very concerned about COVID-19 precautions. I asked about the simmered fish options and was told 鰈 and 鯖味噌, so I ordered 鯖味噌 with less rice. Besides the main 鯖味噌, there was 茶碗蒸し, simmered vegetables, miso soup, rice, pickles, and fruit for 880円 (it was 850円, perhaps because I had less rice), which is impressive. Beyond the number of dishes, the 鯖味噌 had a classic seasoning that had soaked in well and tasted delicious. Next time I'll try grilled fish or another simmered fish dish.
View on GoogleVisited for weekday lunch after 12:30. Waited a few minutes for a table to be cleared. Is it run by an elderly couple? Grandma handles the dining room and Grandpa the kitchen (it's small, so you can see everything right away lol). Grandma's way of speaking to Grandpa is harsh💦 Even though she uses polite language, it's sharp and unpleasant to hear. Enough to make you wonder if they'd just had a fight lol. She's perfectly friendly to customers, so the contrast stands out. Looking at the face The サバ味噌 was sold out, so I ordered カレイの煮つけ. Apparently it was the last piece, and at checkout she said, 'Sorry it's small, it's the last one.' So that's why the piece was so tiny… For Tokyo, considering the number of dishes, it's good value. People wanting a large meal might find it insufficient. The flavors are refined. Nothing distinctive, but perfectly tasty.
View on GoogleWelcomed by the friendly mama (is that what I should call her?), I immediately ordered the サバ塩焼定食 (880円) I'd seen on the lunch menu outside. It appears to be run by an elderly couple. The interior is neat, and judging by the menu on the wall, their main business seems to be an evening izakaya. The サバ塩焼定食 arrived shortly afterward, looking rather refined. The portions of rice, miso soup, grilled mackerel, pickles, simmered dishes, and 茶わん蒸し might look a little small, but once you've eaten, you're quite full. Next time I'll try the evening izakaya service.
