From January 10 to February 15, the Japan-China Friendship Center is holding “Art Museum 38 Years of History - Japan-China Friendship Center Collection Exhibition.” There are exhibits on the development of modern Chinese calligraphy and painting, modern painting, ethnic art, and more. I think it's a very tasteful exhibition.
View on GoogleI visited for a special exhibition on the history of the China dress with real garments on display. Even accounting for the free admission, I was surprised at how crowded it was on a weekday afternoon. I could tell how many women love Oriental clothing. (Interestingly, the male ratio was only about 1%, an extreme gender ratio) It was really good to learn, with actual garments, that around 80 years ago China dresses were worn on special occasions in everyday life. Unusually for a museum, photography of all exhibits was allowed. Postcard sets are sold at the exit.
View on GoogleOne weekday, I went to the Japan-China Friendship Center in Iidabashi. Official💁♀️ @jcfcmuseum I went to see the “Chang'an: Night Banquet” exhibition being held here (October 11 to December 1, 2024). This exhibition showcased the lavish, dazzling lives, mainly of the aristocracy, in Chang'an, the capital of China during the Tang dynasty. Clothing, tableware, musical instruments and more from that time are all lined up. Not only are items displayed, but there are also really detailed, thorough explanations. With these, you can really understand the historical background of the era and the fine details of how people lived. There were also various analyses of women's hairstyles of the time. Honestly, it's the first time I've seen something explained this precisely and in this much detail. There were all sorts of things like tableware, hair ornaments, jewels, and stationery. The complete absence of swords and armor used in battle seems to symbolize how peaceful that era was. Welllll, anyway, so many exhibits worth seeing. I took my time looking and stayed about 2 hours, and it's amazing that this is completely free.
View on GoogleThe qipao exhibition is small in scale, but it's fun, and you learn something too!
View on GoogleI went to see the qipao exhibition, and was thrilled to get to see a dragon robe (longpao).
