Love this canteen which is open to public. We order the food in level one and consume at level two, very spacious canteen. They also have halal food. The water and green tea are free and self service. Don't forget to return everything after finish the food.

A great spot in Tokyo, the University of Tokyo, with its iconic building, is a really interesting place to visit. I recommend coming in the early afternoon because the cafeteria opens to the public, and you can enjoy a good, inexpensive meal just like the university students. It’s a very authentic experience. Please note that from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM, only students are allowed to eat there, so either come early or wait until after 1:30 PM.

Love this canteen. They serve famous University of Tokyo akamon ramen and the eatery is just iconic. Very good prices, air conditioned, perfect stop to have a lunch like an employee of the university!

I had the chance to visit Tokyo University’s Central Cafeteria during my Japan trip, and it was a great experience. The cafeteria is spacious, clean, and well-organized, with a wide selection of affordable and delicious meals. One highlight is that they offer Halal meal options, which is great for Muslim visitors.
