I stumbled upon this cafe while on a 1 week vacation in Tokyo. This place is an absolute gem. The coffee is excellent and the service was even better. The owner is a sweet lady who speaks some English. Stopping by here was one of the highlights of my visit to Tokyo!
View on GoogleNice coffee and tea together with toasts and stews in very reasonable price especially if you come during breakfast or lunch time. Decorations and architecture of this café have the atmosphere of European countries. Pastries and cakes are sold here too.

View on GoogleWalking along Shinobazu-dori, a vivid red awning and an airy open terrace suddenly catch your eye. The stylish exterior, reminiscent of a café on a Parisian street corner, belongs to Cafe Saotome, a bread and cake café. Its history goes back a long way: since opening as a bakery here in Dozaka in 1948, it has preserved flavors beloved by local residents for more than half a century. Today, it has evolved into an elegant café where you can enjoy French-style coffee carefully brewed using an authentic cloth-filter method, served in beautiful cups from prestigious international brands such as Wedgwood and Richard Ginori. I happened to discover it while passing by on a Sunday evening, with the streets wrapped in soft light. The café was bustling with customers, making its enduring popularity immediately apparent. Step into the bright yet calm and refined interior, and a spacious room extending deep inside unfolds before you, recalling a classic Japanese coffeehouse and offering a different charm from the colorful exterior. With time seeming to flow leisurely, the atmosphere could hardly be more suited to forgetting everyday busyness and savoring cake and bread alongside fine coffee. This time, I took home a sugar Belgian waffle for 190円 to brighten up tea time at home. The waffle had a handmade warmth, with a perfect balance between the crisp sugar sprinkled on the surface and the gentle sweetness of the dough itself—a reassuring deliciousness characteristic of a long-established shop. With its beautifully harmonized combination of baking skills cultivated over many years and the appeal of a sophisticated café, this place promises a heartwarming moment even if you simply drop in while out for a stroll.
View on GoogleA coffeehouse in a quiet area a short walk from Tabata Station, with a warm, somewhat nostalgic atmosphere, long loved by local regulars. This time I ordered the Saotome blend coffee. You can really taste the care put into it, and its deliciousness is comforting. Its gentle flavors bring out the quality of the ingredients, and the atmosphere for taking your time to savor them is lovely too. Recommended if you're looking for a coffeehouse where you can unwind in Tabata!
