If you are a Southeast Asian longing for fireworks in your taste buds, Baan Khun Mae is a great place for a good meal! Just across the street from the main gate of University of Tokyo Hongo Campus, they offer affordable lunch menu sets. Portions are very generous and I had trouble finishing my tom yum. Most dishes are below 1K yen. A really cozy place, there is a slight wait especially when term starts in Todai. So you either go early or be patient. The regular menu can get a bit pricey and inaccessible during the lunch hour rush. As for the flavors, it is not necessarily authentic. It has been trimmed down to suit Japanese tastes so if you are lookinh for super authentic Thai flavors, you will be disappointed. If you are used to spicy food, this is not that hot so use the condiments extensively. Example, their use of fresh herbs like Thai basil is very limited.

Very tasty Thai food. Most of them are set menu to be ordered by machine. But, If we can't eat spicy foods, we can request to the staff. There are several menu to choose. We can also order Myanmar food with reservation. I love Myanmar Beer so much.

Tailand and Myanmar cuisine res. as for Pad-thai ผัดไทย noodle, very watery compared to other Thai cuisine res one. "TAKE-OUT" obento is popular.

Good food and fast service. The pad thai was little to much salty. Small place with simple decoration.

The take out pad thai is not bad for 550 yen. A generous portion. Flavor varies widely. The take out green curry, however, is the worst I've ever had. Furthermore, the restaurant is pretty dirty. The cloth covering the stools at the dining counter feels gross.
