This moment truly completed my Japan trip and gave me a sense of closure. As an animal lover, sitting there and reflecting on the deep bond between Hachiko and Professor Ueno was incredibly moving. It’s a powerful reminder of the unconditional love that exists between humans and animals. A heartfelt shoutout to all pet parents and their beloved companions—you make the world a more beautiful place. And my sincere appreciation to the university for honouring this extraordinary connection with such a meaningful statue, allowing travellers from across generations to witness and feel this love. Also, a special thanks to the security guard on duty who kindly allowed me a quiet moment to take it all in—it made the experience even more magical and unforgettable.
View on GoogleIt’s absolutely worth it. The University of Tokyo is an excellent place to walk around, have a coffee, sit in its parks, and read a book. It’s an open campus that lets you experience Japan in a different way, away from the overwhelming crowds of tourists.
View on GoogleWe visited Tokyo for Cherry blossoms instead of Hachiko in Shibuya we prefer visit here as we respect the place its university we just stopped by and take photos only and we just admiring about professor Ueno story and Hachiko..
View on GoogleHello. The statue is from 2016 with Professor Ueno and Hachiko reunited. Professor Ueno worked in Todai. He arrived from tramway at Shibuya and walked to Todai to go to work each day
View on GoogleGoogle maps is such a great asset in many ways. We saw this on the map and thought we’d take a look. My wife particuarly was smitten with the statue of the great man and his loyal dog. It really is a quiet somber place where you can image previous events. The close by museum also has information about the Professor and it actually has the liver of Hachiko.
