This is definitely a unique experience for charcoal grilled wagyu beef. The portion is very genious and the price is decent and affordable. The charcoal definitely adds a unique good old fashion flavour to the fresh cuts. Our server Mr. Watanabe is very friendly, and he gave us many good suggestions for some of their house made items, such as the marinated cabage, cold noodle broth, and almond tofu, we were fully satisfied. We wi definitely come back for anothet visit next time!
View on GoogleI stopped by Wagyu Itto Yakiniku Bouya - Nishi-Nippori Main Store while staying nearby, and it was a really pleasant meal. The menu in English made things easy, which I appreciated since I don’t speak much Japanese. I went for a mixed beef dish with vegetables and rice, and everything felt relaxed and enjoyable. It was a simple, comfortable dinner, and I’m glad I decided to come in.
View on GoogleThis BBQ restaurant is absolutely fantastic. We came here twice and we’ll definitely be back again. The staff is incredibly kind and friendly, and the place feels warm and welcoming. Highly recommended!
View on GoogleThis was the best restaurant of our Japan trip. A hidden gem. We got the BOUYA Basic Wagyu Beef Assorted and the Pork w green susho leaf. MUST TRY is the Cocchori - you will be absolutely surprised with how their Chinese Cabbage makes a difference. Staff is also 100/10! Incredibly friendly, appreciative, and happy. We will recommend this place to our family and friends. Coming back again in a few months!
View on GoogleWhat Is Bou-ya Nishinippori • It’s a yakiniku (Japanese BBQ) restaurant. • Known for buying whole A5-grade wagyu cows, which allows them to serve a wide variety of cuts, including rare parts. • Located very close to Nishi-Nippori Station. • Seating & atmosphere: 32 seats, with counter, tables, and a few tatami / zabuton-style seats. • Smoke policy: Non-smoking inside. • Average price: ~¥4,000–¥4,999 for dinner. • Business hours: 17:00–23:00 (last order ~22:30) on most days; closed on Tuesdays. ⸻ Food / Menu Highlights • They have course menus: • Standard course (~¥4,500) for yakiniku. • Premium “whole-cow” course where you can taste many different cuts, including rare ones. • +¥2,000 to add all-you-can-drink (120 min) on some courses. • Signature “一頭盛り (Ittō Mori)” — a platter with many different types of meat, including rare cuts. • Their Morioka-style cold noodles (盛岡冷麺) are featured in many menus / courses. • Side dishes: kimchi, house salad, etc., plus more “barbecue-appropriate” accompaniments. • For drinks: they have a decent selection (they offer all-you-can-drink in some plans). ⸻ Pros / What People Like 1. High-Quality Meat • Because they buy the entire wagyu cow, you get access to a wide variety of cuts, including rare and off-beat ones. • The beef is fresh, high-grade (A5), and meant to be savored. 2. Good Value for Quality • While it’s premium meat, the pricing is relatively moderate (for high-quality yakiniku). Tabelog average is under ¥5,000. • The course structure helps you control cost (you can pick a standard course or a more expensive one). 3. Convenient Location • Very accessible from Nishi-Nippori Station (just a minute walk). • Good spot in a more “local / residential” area – less touristy, more relaxed yakiniku feel. 4. Ambience & Seating Variety • They have different seating styles: counter, tables, and tatami-style — flexible depending on your group. • Relatively calm, cozy atmosphere; good for dinners with friends, small parties, or family. 5. Good for Groups / Course Dining • Their banquet / set courses are designed for groups (2–20 people per set). • Semi-private seating (tatami) is possible for larger groups. ⸻ Cons / Things to Be Careful About 1. Time Limit • There is often a 2-hour seating limit for dinner when it’s busy. • For courses especially, this might feel tight if you’re going for a leisurely dinner. 2. Closed on Tuesdays • The restaurant is not open every day, so you need to plan around its closing day. 3. No Smoking, But Limited Space • The no-smoking policy inside may be a negative for some, but for many it’s a plus. • With only 32 seats, it can get full, especially on weekend evenings or when people are doing yakiniku dinners. 4. Drink Pricing • If you want all-you-can-drink, you need to pick specific courses to include it (+¥2,000). • Regular à la carte drinks may push your bill up, depending on what you order. 5. Parking • No in-house parking; if you come by car, you’ll need to find nearby parking. ⸻ Overall Verdict • Highly recommended if: • You want a very good yakiniku experience without going ultra-luxury. • You enjoy premium wagyu and want to try a variety of cuts. • You’re dining with a small group or with friends and want a relaxed BBQ / yakiniku dinner. • You want a local, authentic spot rather than a touristy or flashy restaurant. • Maybe skip (or adjust expectations) if: • You’re on a tight time budget and don’t want to worry about a 2-hour limit. • Your group is very large and needs a big private room (they don’t have full private rooms, only semi-private tatami). • You prefer a more budget yakiniku or chain yakiniku rather than high-grade A5 meat.
