A standing soba shop inside a building. You buy a meal ticket from the ticket machine at the entrance. Note that it does not accept the new banknotes or new 500円 coins. (The staff can exchange them for you) As for the soba itself, it has a chewy texture, perhaps because they use fresh soba. The broth has a sharp, assertive soy sauce flavor. The squid tentacle tempura also had a nice firm crunch and was delicious.

At night it is a standing bar. The atmosphere is like a snack bar. There are chairs at some spots, and you can eat soba even at night! _______________________________φ(・_・ ○ what I ate ○ ⚪︎ Squid tentacle tempura soba ¥490 _______________________________φ(・_・ My beloved squid tentacle tempura! The batter was ridiculously substantial, but once it soaked up that strongly flavored, pitch-black broth, it was almost an ingredient in its own right? haha Somewhat thick soba with a plump, chewy, sticky texture! Such a Rokumon Soba vibeーーーー! Seeing the older guys gather one after another, looking so friendly with each other, was heartwarming. The lady working there was super nice too!

My long-awaited first visit. Squid tentacle tempura, kakiage soba, and inari sushi for 950円. I enjoyed the delicious meal.

I visited 「六文そば 日暮里一号店」 at around 14:00, on 3F of Garden Tower in front of Nippori Station. I think the easiest way to find it is via the escalator outside. Once you enter the building, you can see the shop beyond a pillar. If you approach from the Toneri Liner side, it comes into view on the right at the far end of the hallway (3F). There is a ticket machine on the left in front of the shop, so buy a ticket there. Once inside, hand it to the owner at the counter directly in front of you. There is a container of green onions on the counter, so use the tongs to add them to your soba as you like once it arrives. The shop has counter seating (maybe around 5 people…) and two standing counters, each barely accommodating two or three people. It is a small shop. This time, I chose squid tentacle tempura soba and added a tsukimi egg, making it squid tentacle tempura and egg soba. The broth had a good dashi flavor and a gentle taste. Personally, I might have liked a little more soy sauce…. Apparently the soba is boiled from fresh noodles, so it takes a little time to cook. I like how it has a satisfying bite rather than simply being springy(^^) The squid tentacle tempura looks small, but it is thick and substantial. It seems best to return your used dishes from the seated-counter side. I did not see a designated return area. Back when I was a motorcycle courier, I often visited 「六文そば」 along Route 15 between Shimbashi Station and Hamamatsucho Station. It is gone now, though… Thank you for the meal. Thank you for a delicious bowl! I will stop by again if I get the chance(^^)v Though there is also 「一由そば」 a little farther along…(^^;)

Drawn in by the name 「六文そば」 Although there is a strong rival nearby, a shop called 「一由そば」, this 「六文そば」 has a prime location right in front of the station. Despite that, the interior is strangely quiet and peaceful. Surely this tranquility was brought about by the local authorities' urban development in Nippori… or so I found myself imagining. Now, about the soba: the thin noodles fit beautifully with the dashi-rich, slightly sweet broth. This combination is pretty impressive. There is one thing to watch out for, though. The green onions are self-service. It made me chuckle a little: 「If you eat without knowing, you just end up with plain soba!」 If you forget to get the green onions, the god of soba might give you a little scolding. Overall, the atmosphere is more like a bar in front of the station than a soba restaurant. It seems suited to someone popping in for a quick drink with a beer in hand. The style was somewhat freewheeling for somewhere calling itself a soba restaurant, but that has its own charm too. Next time, I want to give it another go with the goal of 「not forgetting the green onions」.
