町屋商店Machiya Shoten
Machida Shoten's Machiya branch specializes in Yokohama Iekei ramen, featuring a rich, creamy tonkotsu shoyu broth. It is 1 minute on foot from the Minowabashi-bound exit of Machiya-ekimae Station on the Toden Arakawa Line, and 3 minutes on foot from exit 1 of the Machiya-bound ticket gate at Machiya Station on Keisei Railway and the Tokyo Metro Chiyoda Line. Close to Arakawa Nature Park, it is ideal for lunch, dinner, or a meal after work. Made with generous amounts of pork bones and painstakingly simmered to draw out their umami, the broth has a thick, smooth texture and a rich flavor with little odor. It pairs well with the medium-thick noodles made at the company's own factory, and you can choose between "tonkotsu shoyu" and "tonkotsu shio." Flavor strength, amount of fat, and noodle firmness can be adjusted to your prefer…

Found this great ramen restaurant called Machiya Shoten right near our hotel and a few blocks from machiya station. It is reasonable priced around 1100 yen for a bowl of ramen, with 2 eggs, vegetables, 5 seaweed and 4 slices of pork. The employees are friendly and fast service once you place your order in the machine. The ramen broth was excellent tried both the soy and salt broth as well as the dipping noodles. The noodles were firm and thick, lots of ingredients and very tasty overall. Highly recommend you try and they are open until 3 am. We loved it so much we went 3 times even though there were other ramen places to try!
View on GoogleTried Iekei ramen for the first time in Utsunomiya and was really disappointed, but with a strong recommendation to try this type of ramen again, I went to Machiya Shoten and was pleasantly surprised! Machiya Shoten has made me fall in love with iekei ramen. Fast and friendly service. And the gyoza was tasty, too!
View on GoogleCame here on a rainy night. Good thing they have an English menu. I ordered a large serving of Miso based pork ramen and gyoza. The staff was very accommodating. The ramen was hot, and the broth was very tasty. The charsiu was very flavorful and melted in the mouth, but there was only one slice, though, so I recommend adding more of it upon order. There are a few condiments that you can add for free as well. If given the chance, I'll definitely order here again.
View on GoogleSimply the best ramen I’ve ever tasted in Japan! The place does not have English translation at all, however the waiter is very accommodating. I opted for sharing one portion since it is huge and the waiter was very nice and took initiative of providing us with another bowl filled with the sides. Overall, it was a very nice experience and I would definitely re visit it when I’m back in Japan.
