we had the lunch set, delicious meat! quite pricey but worth it. outside facade could do better
View on GoogleI made a reservation and visited around 12 on Saturday. It was lunchtime, and the restaurant was bustling with customers, showing how popular it is. If you visit for lunch on a day off, I recommend booking ahead! All the meat was high quality, with fat that was not cloying and plenty of umami, making it delicious right to the end! The interior has the approachable atmosphere of an old-town yakiniku restaurant, with a nostalgic feel. You can enjoy delicious yakiniku and that old-town atmosphere here, so do stop by if you are nearby!
View on GoogleThe Horumon Nabe (Jjigae) is generously portioned too, with an addictive savory-spicy broth. It has plenty of ingredients and is perfect for a cold day. The Kalbi and Harami are especially outstanding! There is plenty of flavorful fat without being cloying. The sauce has just the right sweetness and goes well with rice, and the meat is delicious simply grilled too. It has the comfortable atmosphere of an old-fashioned yakiniku restaurant, with reasonable prices. It felt like a “neighborhood gem” you cannot experience at a chain. Definitely coming back!
View on GoogleSumibi Yakiniku Doyaji” is a renowned neighborhood yakiniku restaurant long loved by locals in the Mikawashima area, where traditional yakiniku restaurants line the streets. It is conveniently located a 3〜4-minute walk from Shin-Mikawashima Station, right near an intersection. I visited alone at 20:15 on a weekday. The interior has a retro atmosphere retaining the character of the Showa era. While groups made it lively, regulars were also enjoying solo yakiniku, creating a somehow comforting space. The menu is filled with classic yakiniku dishes such as “Jo Negi Tan Shio,” “Jo Negi Shio Kalbi,” and “Jo Negi Shio Rosu.” There is also a wide selection of Korean dishes, including Chijimi and Yangnyeom Tofu. From these, I ordered: ■(Otoshi) Korean Seaweed ■Tonsoku (660円 including tax) ■Yangnyeom Tofu (550円 including tax) ■3-Kind Horumon Assortment (1,760円 including tax) ※Selected Jo Horumon, Jo Gatsu, and Nama Liver Yaki The “Tonsoku” was impressively tender from slow simmering. Rich umami seeped out, with a lingering flavor to savor. The “3-Kind Horumon Assortment” is a popular dish that lets you choose 3 cuts you like. This time I chose “Jo Horumon,” “Jo Gatsu,” and “Nama Liver Yaki.” The “Jo Horumon” released its sweet fat with a juicy burst and melted in the mouth. The “Jo Gatsu” had a firm bite, with richness spreading the more I chewed. The “Nama Liver Yaki” had an exquisite combination of a thick, smooth mouthfeel and subtle sweetness. To accompany the yakiniku, there is “Sapporo Lager (Akaboshi),” an icon of the Showa era. Its crisp bitterness and toasted aroma paired wonderfully with the charcoal aroma, the offal's umami, and the texture of the pig's feet. Slowly savoring locally loved flavors in an interior filled with Showa atmosphere. Why not experience that heartwarming time at “Doyaji”?
View on GoogleAs the other reviews say, it is cheap and delicious. We stopped by for lunch and ordered 2 Kalbi set meals, but the meat looked good quality, so we changed one to double meat. The 2 of us enjoyed delicious charcoal-grilled meat for around 3000 yen. A delicious, good-value yakiniku restaurant that is rare to find in Japan👍🏻
