I tried the real local experience here, the staff is great and the food is even better. 10/10

I visited for lunch in month 12 of 2025. I eat at this restaurant 1，2 times a month. Besides tonkatsu, there are various fried-food set meals, but for a first visit I recommend the classic 「トンカツ定食」. It's 1000円. Both the cabbage and rice portions are quite large, so women may want to ask for less rice when ordering. If you order a large serving of rice or the like, you'll get a mountain of rice like something drawn in a manga. The pickles served alongside are lightly salted, just right as a palate cleanser between bites of tonkatsu. There's a wide variety of set meals (see photo). I've tried the whole range of set meals, starting with the classic tonkatsu, then rosu katsu, hire katsu, katsudon, chicken katsu, aji fry, and mixed fry, but my particular favorite is the kaki fry set meal (see photo). I think 大清 is the only restaurant around here where you can get kaki fry for lunch. Kaki fry loses flavor once it cools, so I'm happy to be able to eat it freshly fried. Incidentally, the kaki fry at 大清 doesn't come with tartar sauce. Pour on tonkatsu sauce and eat it with a little mayonnaise and mustard.

First visit on a Saturday before １２. About half the seats were still available. Having read the reviews, there was only one choice for my order: katsudon. Just as the reviews said, it was truly delicious. The balance of egg and katsu, and above all, that slightly generous amount of sauce. No complaints. The red miso soup was delicious too. Thank you. Personally, I think it's better than 坂本屋 in Nishi-Ogikubo. Next time I'd like to try the katsu curry. It was so delicious that I returned ２ days later. Before noon on a public holiday, there were ２ customers already there. I ordered the katsu curry, which someone seated nearby had been enjoying on my previous visit. It had more noticeable spices and garlic than homemade curry, with a unique deliciousness. A perfect match for the katsu! The katsu was just the right thickness too, crisp, tender, and juicy. Thank you for the meal. Thank you. I'll visit again. Next time I'll have a beer with tonkatsu♪

▼Thursday, November 21, 2024, around 12:40 I visited the tonkatsu restaurant 『大清』 (Taisei). It's about a 3～4-minute walk from 『小台駅』 on the Toden Arakawa Line, and you can also get there from in front of the entrance to Sato Hospital. The interior is surprisingly spacious, with 6 counter seats, 3 table seats, and 6 seats at low tables. It was lunchtime, and the staff looked busy. After I sat down, a staff member brought barley tea and a wet hand towel. This time I ordered the dish recommended in reviews: ・Katsu curry　1000円 After a little while, the katsu curry arrived. There was so much curry that I wondered if it was a large serving. The flavor wasn't spicy, with a gentle, home-style taste. Next time I'd like to try the rosu katsu set meal! Payment was cash only.

A favorite restaurant that I always rely on. Usually I get a tonkatsu bento to take out. The rice and tonkatsu are delicious, and there's loads of cabbage too✨ Such a satisfying bento!! Every once in a while, I visit in the evening after hiking on a day off to get my energy back! It's delicious then too, and leaves me full of energy! The tako karaage is also the beeest!!
