A hidden gem of Arakawa city! Just for 100 yen per person - you can spent easily two hours learning about the local history. Don’t forget to stop by Susan’s Shrine - 3 min away
View on GoogleVery small but good museum of the history of Arakawa Ku. All the information is in Japanese, so may have limitations for persons who do not read Japanese, but still worth a visit if you happen to be in the area. Not worth making a special trip to see it. Especially good is the model of Senju Ohashi Bridge in Edo era, the big "Birds Eye View" of Tokyo Map and a very small old Shitamachi Street and interior.
View on GoogleSmall museum that’s all in Japanese. Despite that, I think it’s very much worth visiting when in the area. Especially thanks to very nice exhibits showcasing local history.
View on GoogleAll in Japanese. Quite small. We were the only people there. History of the local area. 100 yen per person. Enjoyed it.
View on GoogleArakawa Furusato Bunka Kaikan (exhibition room, traditional crafts gallery) is closed for major renovations. It's reportedly scheduled to reopen in summer of Reiwa 10. Minami-Senju Library will reportedly remain open until August 30, Reiwa 8. There was a notice inside the building. Currently, securing storage space for historical materials has become an issue at many local museums across the country. I don't know whether Arakawa Furusato Bunka Kaikan is affected by this issue, but I hope this renovation helps local culture be passed down even better. It would be helpful if the closure notice were posted somewhere prominent outside the building. Around the day I visited, I got to see the Daio Festival, famous in Minami-Senju, at a nearby shrine.
