Visited again during GW after a long time. Ordered the katsudon for ¥1200. From the kitchen I could hear the pleasant crackling 🎵 of katsu being fried 😝 The bowl arrived in 12 minutes. One bite of katsu. Delicious 😋 Right away, a second bite with rice. Hmm. The broth feels thinner than before. My preference is a moderately saucy style with a slightly stronger flavor. This time too, the freshly fried katsudon was very delicious. Thanks for the meal 😋 ----- The other day I visited Maruga again after a long time. Every time I have the katsudon set with mori soba for 1500 yen. Since I already know the katsudon is delicious, this time I went with the tamadon set with mori soba for 1150 yen. I went in at 11:30 and there were about 3 customers already. The bowl arrived in about 15 minutes. First of all, the tamadon looks beautiful. One bite, and the super runny egg and sweet-savory broth were totally to my taste and incredibly delicious. The egg really wasn't set at all—a perfect result. Next I had the soba: thin soba with a sweet broth full of dashi flavor, also just my taste. I finished it in no time. Very satisfied for 1150 yen. Thanks for the meal 😋

There are many neighborhood soba shops in this area, like Jisakuan in Nishi-Tachikawa and Namikian and Yasudaya in Tachikawa, and this Maruga is also a long-established shop loved by the neighborhood. I've been wandering around looking for places with delicious katsudon, and the katsudon here is the type where the egg is cooked firm rather than runny, but the domestic pork loin has great flavor and it's delicious. Today I had it as a set with mori soba too. The thin Sarashina-style soba is delicious, but the sweet dipping sauce is maybe not quite to my taste.

Finally went to Maruga, which I'd been curious about! I had the tempura soba for 1200 yen. Broth ➡︎ The lovely aroma of bonito dashi rises to your nose, sweetness comes first followed by a finish of soy sauce—a broth that warms you to the core! Soba ➡︎ The thinly cut soba is boiled on the firm side and goes great with the hot broth. Tempura ➡︎ One huge prawn, plopped in like a king. Now this is tempura❣️ Capacity ➡︎ Inside there are 2 tatami tables and 4 regular tables. Parking ➡︎ 4 spaces beside the shop. ※No large trucks Accessibility ➡︎ Wheelchairs are no problem since there are regular tables. Payment ➡︎ Cash only. Overall ➡︎ Delicious. I'll definitely come again! The downside is that payment is cash only. These days many people don't carry cash, so they should address this soon. But having parking makes up for it! For train users, it's a 5-minute walk from Higashi-Nakagami Station. Also recommended for salespeople out on their rounds!

A soba shop I casually stumbled upon during work. The inside is by no means spacious, but the staff are really pleasant. They have set meals too, and I went with the tendon set without hesitation. My junior colleague got the katsudon set. Tasty, and just the right portion. By the way, the shrimp in the tendon stick out of the bowl. Lots of locals too, drinking beer from noon 🍺 I get it. It was delicious.

A soba shop near my home that I'd never managed to visit until now. I'd been hesitant after seeing the display out front, but I was craving tendon so I worked up the courage and went in…! Since it's a soba shop, I wanted soba too, so I got the tendon set. It looked way better than the display! Especially the soba—definitely the delicious kind! When I actually ate it, the soba was just the way I like it. The tendon had 2 big shrimp, very satisfying. The sweet sauce went so well with the rice that I finished it in no time 😄 I'm definitely coming back.
