There aren't many restaurants around here, so it gets busy at lunchtime on weekdays. They have set meals and soba and udon combination sets too.

Head south from 西立川駅 toward the white chimney of the public bath 「三光湯さん」, and it's nearby. There is parking for 3〜4 cars in front. The interior has an old-fashioned appearance. There was also a raised seating area, but evening banquets seemed difficult during the pandemic. At lunch, I ordered the katsudon set for 1200円. There was a lot. Good for young people and big eaters. A little too much for me—my stomach was tight. I'm used to light seasoning, so the katsudon tasted rather strongly seasoned, but after physical activity, you could really dig in. I thought it would provide welcome satisfaction for manual workers. The miso soup was delicious. A gentle, nostalgic taste, I think... Thank you for the meal.

My personal recommendations, even though this is a soba restaurant(-_-;) Fried oyster set meal (limited time) Ajikoro set meal (fried horse mackerel and croquette set) Curry don Udon with thick meat and egg sauce The fried foods are freshly fried and piping hot! Oh, right, the set meals come with a big bowl of rice, so I order less rice. They take 30円 off. 2023/12/26 And perhaps my last visit this year? I tried the curry don (950円) for the first time. It's soba-shop curry thickened up, then poured generously over a bowl of rice. (Roughly speaking) The bowl of rice I usually can't finish, I polished off easily. I'm absolutely stuffed. Thank you for everything this year too. 2023/01/17 My first visit this year. I ordered the relatively new udon with thick meat and egg sauce for 1000円. With last year's price increase, even udon has hit the big milestone. The meat is Angus beef (heavily advertised at the local 西友 too) It's udon topped with a thick beaten-egg sauce. At this time of year, it stays hot for ages, and the generous portion is very satisfying Because of the beaten egg, I drank the broth to the last drop. By the way, you can order it with soba too. 2022/12/28 My last meal here this year? I ordered the fried oyster set with small rice for 870円. Freshly fried as always. I enjoyed it. 2022/10/19 Prices went up on 10/01. My first visit since the increase. It seems to be about 50円 more for individual items and 100円 for set meals. Perhaps nearly half the set meals now exceed 1000円. The ajikoro set's increase was kept from 800円 to 850円. Fried horse mackerel and croquettes are friends of ordinary people. The fried oyster set went from 800円 to 900円. I ordered my first fried oyster set of the season, with small rice. 870円. The -30円 for small rice is unchanged. 2022/08/09 My first visit in a while. The ajikoro set is 800円, or 770円 with less rice. Reliably freshly fried, and I enjoyed it. 2022/04/21 I ordered the 800円 fried oyster set with half rice. That makes it 770円 The fried foods here are always freshly fried and delicious. Looking through all my photos, there are a lot of fried oysters, but I also quite like and eat the ajikoro set. 2022/04/13 The ajikoro set for 800円 again today. I had them reduce the big bowl of rice a little, making it 770円. That makes the portion just right. Both the fried fish and croquette were freshly fried. 2021/10/15 My first of the season, the fried oyster set (800円 again this season) I enjoyed it. 2021/06/24 Today, the miso-simmered mackerel set (800円). The ginger is really pronounced. I enjoyed it. Personally, I prefer mackerel grilled and eaten with soy sauce. 2021/04/16 Today, the ajikoro (fried horse mackerel and croquette) set for 800円. The horse mackerel was freshly fried, thick, and fluffy. The croquette was freshly fried too. Delicious. The rice does seem a little soft. 2020/12/09 First visit in a while, seated in the spacious tatami room. I ordered the fried oyster set for 800円. The rice in the bowl was a little soft, but there was plenty. They used to offer a 500円 lunch, but apparently not anymore. A shame.

It's suitably run-down, making it an easy place for a lonely guy turning 40 this year to visit. I went at lunchtime on Saturday, and it soon filled up. It's an inconspicuous place on a side street opposite 江戸街道, where ラーメン思道 is. It's been very hot lately, so I wanted zaru udon and ordered a katsudon set that included zaru. I thought udon would arrive, but what came was soba! I was caught off guard, but accepted it as another unexpected encounter. The set looked more lavish than I'd imagined, so in a way it was the right choice. There was a red kettle with hot water in it. When I asked, “What's this?” I was told it was sobayu. Sobayu??! I'd assumed it was a finger bowl and nearly scalded my fingertips. As for the all-important taste, delicious! (The impression of someone with an unrefined palate.) Maybe being older makes it taste even better. The miso soup had a distinctive seafood-like flavor and was delicious, the katsudon was rich with fatty flavor and delicious, and the conclusion was: delicious! Afterward, I slightly regretted not mixing the sobayu with alcohol to drink. I hope to improve myself so I can enjoy it even more next time.

The soba was a little disappointing when I tried it before, so I tried the tendon for 1,000円. The flavor wasn't as strong as the color suggested and was just right; using only large shrimp was refreshingly straightforward, and the portion was enough. But perhaps it had been dipped in too much sauce, because the coating wasn't crispy at all and was limp, so two stars. Maybe I should have ordered katsudon like everyone else...
