[Updated 2025/3/12] Closed indefinitely. If someone asked me what the most delicious restaurant in Akishima is, I'd tell them about this place. It was originally a Japanese restaurant run by the previous generation, and was rebooted as a French restaurant with some minor changes to the interior. Even when they took over the Japanese restaurant, their seasoning skills were already superb, but their true specialty, French cuisine, is even more amazing. Perhaps because they inherited the previous clientele, they still serve unajū and tempura, and for some reason there are even hamburgers and chow mein on the menu, so it's more like a set-meal diner. For a French restaurant, the value for money is exceptional, so if you're curious, why not start with lunch? Since their business days are unusual, I recommend calling to check before visiting.
View on GoogleA restaurant I'd been curious about for a while, and I visited for the first time. From the outside it's a bit confusing because the sign says Hyakuchin, but there's a proper menu board out in front of the shop. Inside, the 1st floor has 2 counter seats and 2 four-person tables. (Hyakuchin also has a 2nd floor, so it might be usable.) I went at lunchtime, and besides the lunch menu, you can also order from the regular menu. The menu also includes Hyakuchin dishes like "unajū" and "tendon," so you can enjoy not just Western but also Japanese food. They use ingredients like kyō-imo and red-heart radish, and the tendon uses 9 kinds of toppings. The owner explained the dishes carefully, and I enjoyed everything very much. The atmosphere is relaxed enough that you can easily come in alone and take your time, so next time I'd like to go again by myself.
View on GoogleThe food ranges from average to slightly good. The lack of a unified concept is its flaw. I wish they'd narrow the menu down to French cuisine, or if they're going multinational, keep it balanced. The interior is fatal. The menu pushes French food, yet they use counter chairs, and including the tablecloth design it looked like a British pub, and then there were faux-Scandinavian knickknacks that looked like they came from a 100-yen shop… Looking closer, you can tell it used to be a Japanese restaurant. The BGM… I don't remember anymore, but that too was a choice that didn't fit the atmosphere. Having French cuisine bumps it up a rank, but at its core it's no different from a set-meal diner that serves curry, ramen, soba, and rice bowls too. A restaurant that's just such a shame.
View on GoogleI got hungry while out on a walk. Close to noon, at just the right time, I found an eye-catching Japanese restaurant. But when I got closer, the takeout sign had two shop names: "Hyakuchin" (百珍) "Brasserie Bouche Ton Queue" Feeling "???" I went in anyway. It seems to be run by a young couple. Inside, the seats are spaced widely: 2 counter seats, plus one table for 2 and one for 4. The lunch menu whiteboard listed tempura, eel, BTC sandwich, and sea bream bolognese—really both Japanese and French! The grand menu written on the wall was all tempting too. I thought the appetizers & sandwiches might be nice and asked, but the wall menu was only from the evening. Then the husband apologetically suggested, "If you'd like something like an otoshi while you wait, we can serve a tomato and mozzarella caprese for 300 yen." This caprese totally got me excited. Tomato and mozzarella piled into a small mound, generously drizzled with a basil sauce rich in aroma and color—quality far beyond 300 yen. And the husband properly explained the dish. The BTC sandwich that came out afterward also had far more volume than I'd expected for 800 yen. The homemade rye bread had a wonderful toasty aroma. Pleasantly firm, easy to bite through and not dry, it was delicious even after cooling. The smoky aroma and flavor of the thick-cut homemade ham were also superb. Plenty of cheese, with tomato and red leaf lettuce well balanced inside, so it was easy to eat despite its thickness. When they handed me the takeout menu flyer, they explained it properly too. What's surprising is how extensive the takeout menu is. And everything is reasonably priced. Apparently they also deliver within Akishima City (delivery fee 50 yen!). How nice! I want to become an Akishima resident… A place I want to come back to. Next time, definitely in the evening.
View on GoogleThe beef tomato curry was spicy and really delicious, the sandwich was packed with fillings and very hearty, and the baked sweets that came with the lunch were also very tasty☆ And reasonably priced. I think it's a place where the whole menu is delicious. The staff were also very pleasant, and I'd like to go again (^ ^)
