柳屋Yanagiya
Akiruno City, Tokyo, about an hour west of central Tokyo, is a "countryside in Tokyo" surrounded by mountains and rivers, where you can fully feel the blessings of nature. This area is also called Itsukaichi. People visit every day to enjoy hiking and barbecues. There are also many local specialties and products that make the most of local ingredients, making it a destination where you can enjoy great food all year round. Yanagiya was founded here by the first generation in the early Showa era, and has built a long history of loving the local area and being loved by local people. We will continue to share the wonders of this land with more people through "food." At Yanagiya, we prioritize using locally grown ingredients that are in season. The first-of-season, peak, and end-of-season of ingredients…

Dropped by for lunch I don't eat soba much in Tokyo, but the taste was ◯ The portion was a bit small maybe? (since it's a tourist spot) For sightseeing, I would've liked to try a few more different menu items Cleanliness, soba-yu ◯
View on GoogleIf you come with the mindset of "I'm here just for this soba!", it might be a bit of a letdown. I didn't really taste any distinctive flavor from the blackness… The tororo looked amazing, whereas the soba... if it were plated a bit more beautifully I think it'd be more exciting. On the day I visited there were people who couldn't get in, so I recommend making a reservation.
View on GoogleStopped by for lunch on the way to Akigawa Valley. The restaurant has a calm look that blends naturally into the surrounding scenery, and although it's in a tourist area, it isn't noisy, with an atmosphere where you can take your time eating. This time I ordered the signature Kurohachi Soba (with seasonal tempura). It's said to be soba kneaded with edible bamboo charcoal, but beyond its visual impact, you can really taste the soba's aroma and flavor, and it goes down smoothly. Rather than a novelty, it was a highly accomplished bowl of "genuinely delicious soba." The tempura also had a light batter, fried in a way that doesn't overpower the ingredients, and paired well with the soba. The portion was just right too, and it's nice that it isn't too heavy as a meal before exploring the valley. It's lovely to be able to calmly enjoy such carefully made soba just a short drive out from central Tokyo. Recommended for anyone who wants a quiet, satisfying meal during a stroll or drive around Akigawa Valley.
View on GoogleI had the Kurohachi Soba mori set. I thought the bamboo charcoal might change the texture somewhat… but the amount mixed in seems pretty tiny, the color wasn't as black as I imagined, and the texture is almost the same as regular soba. To put it nicely, it's easy to eat; to put it less nicely, maybe it lacks character.
View on GoogleI'd passed through many times, but this was my first time stopping at Musashi-Itsukaichi. Today's lunch was at this place, where I was taken along. "Kurohachi Soba (mori) @ Yanagiya, Musashi-Itsukaichi" Why is this soba black❓ First with salt, then later with soba dipping sauce♫ The tempura was several kinds of mountain vegetables and vegetables♫ Finished with soba-yu♫ A slightly luxurious lunch. It was very delicious⭐ 2024.06.02
