I rode an e-bike up the forest road to the top, then climbed a bit more on foot. The trail was super muddy because of the rain, and my shoes ended up covered in mud. Right when I reached the gazebo with the nice view, the rain started coming down for real, but while I was eating dinner it let up after about an hour. 2023/6/13 When I went back another day, it was sunny and the view was great. 2023/7/29 I went up from the Kaikoin side in about 20 minutes. There were lots of benches along the way. 2023/10/25
View on GoogleAbout a 30-minute climb from behind the Itsukaichi city hall building. You can look out over the scenery stretching even further east from within Akiruno City. Truly the gateway to the mountains. Bring something to drink and be sure to take a break here. You can hear wild birds too. If you're just out for a walk, don't turn back here—climb just a little further and extend your walk to Kotohira Shrine and the gazebo. The park area also has toilets. It's a well-maintained mountain path, with some simple paving in places, but comfortable walking shoes are recommended.

View on GoogleThis is my favorite observation deck. Whenever I do the Konpira Ridge traverse from Mt. Hinode, or come via Minamisawa Ajisai-yama, I always have my lunch break here. The view opens up, there are lots of wild birds, and in spring there are cherry blossoms and azaleas, and especially an amazing amount of shirobana kobano tatsunamisou (white-flowered skullcap). In autumn there are maple leaves, and in winter a tunnel of three-colored sasanqua welcomes you.
