I love this Taiyaki shop, I’ve been going here for years! The guy and his wife are so friendly! It’s cheap and very thick compared to other taiyaki I have eaten. It’s pretty popular in this area and people buy them in bunches. He sells a certain amount per day, when they’re sold out they close. The only downside is that they have Anko filling only. So if you don’t like anko this is not for you, but if you do I highly recommend it. You won’t be disappointed.

A taiyaki shop that locals always buy from on their way home from shopping if it's open. It's run by an elderly couple, and one is more than 2 times the usual size, so just one will leave you stuffed. It has that old-fashioned taste that warms your belly and puts a smile on your face. As shown in the photo, one costs 180 yen and may seem expensive, but it's more filling than two regular taiyaki, so one is enough. Eat two and you'll struggle with dinner! Watch out!

I lined up in the rain around 14:30 on Friday, with about 10 people ahead of me, and was able to buy some around 15:10. People buy things like 15 each, so even a short line took quite a while. But they were big enough to be worth the wait, packed with anko, and absolutely delicious! I'm leaving あきる野市 in a year, so I wanted to try them before then and stuck it out in line. I'm satisfied! They currently cost 180 yen each.

The batter is thick, there's plenty of anko, and they're incredibly filling They taste more than good enough too, but the lovely aroma of the batter and anko makes it impossible to resist the urge to 'eat one more,' even though one should be enough
