Visited 「香」 in Akiruno City. I had tanmen, fried rice, and gyoza, and all of them exceeded my expectations. The tanmen was especially outstanding. It was packed with vegetables such as Chinese cabbage and bean sprouts, whose sweetness and savory flavor had thoroughly infused the broth. The flavor was gentle yet rich, making me want to drink every last drop. The fried rice was fragrant from the wok, with a perfect balance of seasoning and rice. Eating it with the tanmen made the meal even more satisfying. The gyoza were large, with nicely browned, chewy wrappers. They were plenty filling too. This place is full of the charm of an old-fashioned neighborhood Chinese restaurant, the kind I'd definitely visit regularly if it were nearby. I'd gladly come all the way to Akiruno City to eat here again.

I arrived at 「香」(シャン) at 11時20分 before opening, and 2 groups were already there. The menu consists only of tanmen, gyoza, fried rice, soft-cooked eggs, and beer. The soft-cooked eggs were already sold out, so I ordered tanmen and gyoza. The tanmen has a chicken-bone-based salt broth, plenty of Chinese cabbage, bean sprouts, and pork, and distinctive, slightly dry and crumbly noodles (made by Akishima's 「鈴めん」). I ate it plain first, then with a little black pepper, and finally with plenty of chili oil. This tanmen had a flavor you won't find elsewhere. White pepper or vinegar might also be good, depending on your taste. The gyoza are slightly barrel-shaped, with crispy wrappers and a peppery filling. Dipped in the local キッコーゴ soy sauce, they tasted just right to me. After finishing, I returned my dishes to the upper counter shelf, wiped the table, paid, and thanked them for the meal. Addictive tanmen in the Chen lineage (from 「寶来」, formerly in Higashi-Nakagami). There was a photo of the previous proprietor on the counter. Besides the 4 parking spaces in front of the restaurant, there are apparently 5 more in a second parking lot; please refer to the location guide.

A favorite place I've been visiting for over 10 years✨ The moment the steam rose, I knew, “This is definitely going to be delicious…!”🥹✨ The broth was clear and gentle, yet packed with savory flavor that made me want to drink every last drop! I want you to see the 香 character written at the bottom of the bowl🥰 It's full of crunchy Chinese cabbage and bean sprouts, and the way the vegetables' sweetness blends into the broth is the best🤍 Simple yet deep, it gets more addictive with every bite…! The meat's savory flavor comes through too, and the overall balance was really good☺️ These “unassuming but unforgettable flavors” are what you end up craving again🥺 It feels like it gently warms you through, so I think it's perfect for tired days or after drinking too✨ The atmosphere inside is somehow calming as well, making you want to linger. Before I knew it, I'd nearly finished the broth😂 I truly love this place and want to keep coming forever! Thank you for the meal🙏✨
