I had the tsukemen ramen + gyoza. The serving was huge! It did take a while (maybe ten minutes?) for my order to arrive but that's to be expected of tsukemen. The dip was surprisingly sweet and sour at the same time, probably coz of the generous serving of onions? It has a unique taste that I'm glad to have tried.
View on GoogleI ordered the spicy miso ramen. It was thick, rich, and very satisfying. The noodles were also thick and chewy and the broth stuck to it well.
View on GoogleA noodle shop that's all about ginger, with a good selection of set meals too. The tsukemen lets you pick from 3 portion sizes, but even the small one is hefty. The ramen might be easier to finish. Old-school style with no ticket machine. The service is pleasant too.
View on GoogleWent in just before 2 PM on a weekday. 1 customer before me, 1 after. A well-worn retro atmosphere. Ordered the "Spicy Miso Ramen" 850 yen verbally; it arrived in 6 minutes. The soup isn't as spicy as it looks, with medium-thick curly noodles and crunchy bean sprouts. A Showa-era taste. Payment is cash, paid after eating.
View on GoogleI'd been meaning to go here for a loooong time… the back-fat tonkotsu ramen shop "Ramen Taiko." Mmmmm, a sinful level of saltiness. Delicious. As expected, humanity's ultimate guilty pleasure is saltiness. It's like a rallying call: everyone who loves salty food and strong flavors, gather round. (It's not at all so salty you can't eat it. But… some people might go, whoa, that's really salty… probably.) By the way, I usually advocate going easy on salt… but actually I really love strong flavors. It's fine, isn't it, if it's just once or twice a month? Rather than piling up stress, decide how often and go eat it. After the meal, detox the excess salt with black coffee. Chashu-men, shoyu. 800 yen. Small rice 150 yen. 950 yen in total. Come to think of it, 800 yen for chashu-men like this is really cheap. Surprising. I guess it counts as Tokyo tonkotsu back-fat ramen? The soup goes really, really well with rice. The noodles are chewy and medium-thick. Very filling. The chashu is a bit thin, but there are 5 fairly large slices. Since they're big, the thinness doesn't bother you. The chashu is tender and melt-in-your-mouth. Stuff your cheeks with chashu, shovel in rice, take a sip of soup. A wonderful relay — a moment of bliss. Even the (small) rice is heaped high, plenty enough. Overall, it definitely feels cheap. Thanks for the meal. I'm definitely coming back. By the way, it's a ramen shop, but they also do set meals like shogayaki. Listening in on the orders of the customers who kept coming in one after another, the shogayaki seems popular too. A place where both the ramen and the shogayaki set meal are tasty can't go wrong. *The inside of the shop is a bit dim, so unusually for me I turned on a light to photograph the ramen.
