松の屋", about a 6-minute walk from the West Exit of JR Kita-Senju Station, is a yakiniku specialty restaurant. When I visited around 1 PM on a weekend, the building had an upscale look with a glossy red granite exterior. The service lunch (11:00~14:00) is reasonable: bibimbap 550 yen, kalbi gukbap, naengmyeon, yakiniku-don 750 yen, and so on. At these prices, you can go in without worry. Inside there's raised tatami seating and tables, maybe around 40 seats. Only 1 customer was there before me, so it was empty. When I said 1 person, I was shown to a table seat. Spacious and much appreciated. *Yakiniku set meal 1,250 yen Kalbi, loin, namul, kimchi, rice, soup When you order, they light the roaster and bring out namul, kimchi, dipping sauce, water, and homemade oshibori. The namul is plentiful: bracken, daikon, spinach, and bean sprouts. If you drink, this alone would make a good snack with your drink. I was surprised by the thickness and marbling of the kalbi and loin served in about 5 minutes. If you ate at the Kita-Senju station building, you'd get maybe 1/3 the amount of meat, and you can't expect this meat quality at Yakiniku Like. I'd proudly award it 1st place for yakiniku lunch in Kita-Senju. Next came the rice and wakame soup. Grilling the meat, giving it one bounce on the rice, and popping it in your mouth is pure happiness. The rice being soft is a charming quirk, but some people probably like it that way. I dropped in for a yakiniku lunch on a whim, but I was surprised by quality far beyond what I'd imagined.

About a 10-minute walk from the West Exit of Kita-Senju Station, this yakiniku restaurant is just past the corner with the Ministop on Shukuba-machi-dori (the old Nikko Kaido). It's probably a family-run place that's been around a long time, and it was bustling with what seemed to be regulars. There are about 3 tables and several raised tatami seating areas, and they serve everything from reasonably priced items to somewhat pricier premium items, plus rice and noodle dishes and alcohol. There's no noticeable ventilation system, so when every table grills at once the place fills up with quite a lot of smoke, and the smell will stick to your clothes. I think it's a place to enjoy without being formal.

Yakiniku-don. The meat has a sweet-salty seasoning. The flavor is a bit strong, but there's shredded lettuce in it too, so it doesn't bother me much. The accompanying soup had a mellow richness from the fat, the kind only a yakiniku restaurant makes.
