my friend and i were visiting from nyc, and this place was genuinely so memorable! it genuinely was on par with fine dining we have had in nyc, and for only ~$20 usd for the lunch menu sushi A set. it’s cash only fyi. highly highly recommend, the couple took over running the restaurant from the sushi chef’s father! when we went, we sat at the counter with a bunch of locals.

An absolutely wonderful experience. The sushi was fabulous and the owners are the nicest couple you’ll meet in Japan. Eating in their restaurant felt like we were being invited and welcomed into their home. We ordered the set A for 2,700 yen which was enough for two. We enjoyed ourselves and look forward to going back!

Amazingly fresh fish at humble prices. Beautiful, cozy interior and friendly staff. The most authentic sushi I’ve had in Tokyo. I can’t say enough good things about this place. Do yourself a favor and go.

This is the best sushi restaurant in Japan. You will never find any other place with such a fresh and delicious fish. And the owners are incredibly friendly and kind. I highly recommend it if you want to try a real Japanese sushi in a great home-like atmosphere :)

Wonderful couple owns this restaurant, they don’t know much English but they are patient and really friendly. Food was amazing, the kind of quality and care you can only find at a Mom and pop shop. We had the sushi set A, came with a variety of sushi, and white miso soup with clams in it, fantastic. The whole meal for both of us was about 5,400 yen , more than reasonable. If you are staying at ryokan shizuku or are in the area don’t miss this sushi shop!
