I ordered the soba set meal. It came with soba, tempura, and a sashimi rice bowl for about 1700 yen. At first I thought it was pricey, but the portion was just right and I got full. The taste was plenty delicious, the interior was calm, and the staff service was good. I did think it would be nice if the inside were a little more spacious, but other than that I had absolutely nothing to complain about! Next time I'm stuck for lunch in Kitasenju, I'll come here for Japanese food. They also had shabu-shabu and such, so I'd like to try that too.

I visited "Satsukiya," a Japanese restaurant located a 2-minute walk from the East Exit of Kitasenju Station, and tried the "Beef Shabu Seafood Course." With a history of over 60 years since its founding, the restaurant is known as a certified Sendai beef restaurant. The course was varied: an appetizer, sashimi, beef shabu-shabu, a seasonal fried dish, and dessert. The beef shabu-shabu in particular stood out for the tenderness and flavor of the Sendai beef, and was delicious paired with the special sesame sauce. On the other hand, the sashimi lacked freshness and struck me as not much different from what's served at chain izakaya. The fried pufferfish (fugu karaage) served as the seasonal fried dish was crispy outside and fluffy inside, with a refined taste. The interior has a calm atmosphere, private rooms are available, and the service was polite. However, considering the overall quality of the food and the price, I maybe had my doubts about the value for money.

Satsukiya," about a 2-minute walk from the East Exit of JR Kitasenju Station, is a shabu-shabu and Japanese cuisine restaurant. For over 60 years since its founding, it has kept operating at the East Exit of Kitasenju Station. It's a certified Sendai beef restaurant, and the highlight is that you can enjoy brand-name beef. The popular shabu-shabu uses carefully selected meat. The sesame sauce has a spicy kick and a deep, rich flavor, with several spices and doubanjiang as secret ingredients. It balances well with the vegetables too — an excellent dish where the aroma of sesame spreads as the Kuroge Wagyu sirloin melts in your mouth. There are also gozen sets that let you enjoy beef at reasonable prices, as well as iron-pot dishes. The monthly seasonal vegetable bento and the beef hot pot lunch set, available only at weekday lunchtime, are also popular. Various banquets and memorial gatherings can be held for up to 23 people. After Tokyo Denki University's Senju Campus opened in spring 2012, a transportation plaza with a police box, bus stops, a taxi stand, and more was completed at the East Exit (February 2013). Land readjustment took place at that time, and Satsukiya seems to have moved into the 2F of a building. When I visited around 1 p.m. on a weekend, there was a "Takeout Menu" sign beside the stairs on 1F. The lineup includes a seasonal vegetable bento for 1,300 yen, a seafood chirashi bowl for 1,400 yen, and a sukiyaki bento for 1,500 yen. Take the elevator up to 2F and there's the restaurant entrance. To the right as you enter are 6 counter seats facing the kitchen and about 10 table seats, but there seem to be more seats in the back on the left (40 seats total). Sitting at the counter and looking at the menu, lunchtime options range from the kurobuta pork ginger-fry set meal at 928 yen to the mini seafood chirashi and tempura gozen at 1,650 yen and the lunch mini kaiseki "Matsukaze" at 3,300 yen, among others (all excluding tax). My impression is that around 1,500 yen is the main price range. *Beef hot pot lunch set with special sukiyaki warishita, 1,300 yen (excluding tax) Seasonal small side dish, rice, egg, miso soup, pickles It's served about 10 minutes after ordering, so no worries even when you're short on time at lunch. The small side dish was mozuku, and the soup was red miso. The beef is mostly lean but has a moderate amount of marbling, good quality. Under the meat there's plenty of vegetables like tofu, napa cabbage, and onion. Light the portable gas stove, and once the meat is cooked just right, dip it in beaten egg and eat — the meat is deeply delicious. Finish off the meat first, and the vegetables and tofu become a great side dish once simmered. There probably aren't many lunch spots near the station with a calm atmosphere that serve good food at reasonable prices. I'd like to come back here. Visited January 2021

I had the seasonal vegetable bento for lunch. Beautifully colored with seasonal fish and vegetables, it already looks delicious just from the look of it! Everything was so good I couldn't stop eating Especially the bamboo shoot tempura, the kisu tempura, and the Spanish mackerel simmered in miso were delicious😋 The rice was fluffy, glossy, and a little sweet, so good that I had seconds! By the way, rice refills are free. The interior feels clean, a stylish, modern Japanese space Classical music was playing quietly, so even my heart was filled with a feeling of luxury✨ I'm also really curious about the beef hot pot set, so next time I want to have sukiyaki for lunch!
